Hello!

I adhere to the teachings of Thomas Aquinas!  I hope to hear and learn new things from all of you active members here.  I guess I need to have my faith reinforced because recently a friend of mine exposed me to wayward thinking of Christopher Hitchens and I am frightened.  I need to be reassured.

Welcome, Rubric. I offer you the following scriptures as encouragement.

I write these things to you about those who are trying to deceive you. But the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie—just as it has taught you, abide in him.

For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, "Abba! Father!"

God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Thank you, Nevertheless, that surely is comforting! I was really depressed after being exposed to that malice but you have reminded me of God's grace and kind words.  It certainly lifted my spirit.
