Can anyone tell me the official rules of Christian virginity ? I think i found the official rules for catholic virginity on the internet, but they are not clear. Can someone help me interpret them ? I have searched a bit, and it may be this sentence which defines catholic virginity? "Virginity is irreparably lost by sexual pleasure, voluntairily and completely experienced" What does it mean ? If this is not the final and official rules, can someone tell them to me? Do these rules count for all christianity ?

Thanks

Catholica

There is no set of rules, just opinions.  If someone asks if you are a virgin in this day and age it could mean that they are asking one of many things.  It is doubtful that they are asking if you masturbate.  If someone wants to know if you are, they are probably either referring to sexual acts with another person or intercourse itself, it's hard to tell.

I believe by the above definition, masturbation would formally negate a person's virginity, as would any kind of received sexual acts leading to orgasm in the male or female, or of penetration in either sex.  It also makes an exception for rape, that if a person is raped then that doesn't take away their virginity from a spiritual point of view.  And that virginity is what is precious in the eyes of God and scripture is, I believe, what the Catholic encyclopedia is referring to.

Why do you think this about St.Jeromes definition on virginity loss, Catholica? is it something you have heard or read, or did it just come out of the blue? And by penetration in both sexes, do you mean anal-penetration in men ? And does oral sex count as penetration in women ? And by the part "Completely experienced", you think this means reached an orgasm ? Why do you think this ?

Thanks

One church I attended included sexual desire and arousal (without orgasm/release) and any kind of knowledge of the other gender's anatomy as loss of virginity.

There are no official rules.  There is only the Bible.  The Bible defines it as intercourse, but things like oral sex, petting, masturbation are not really discussed.

May I ask why you are asking?

I would strongly encourage you to talk to your paster about your concerns and questions.

It is very simple to me, but I could be wrong.  "Has one ever known a man or woman in the biblical sense of the use of the word: knew? Genesis 4:1

In the biblical sense, "know" ONLY happens in proper marriage.  Other sex encounters are listed as some variant of "laid with ..."
