Nudity?

When inside the privacy of your own home...


Do you wear clothes? Or is being naked (outside the shower or bath) a taboo?


Obviously most of us with older children who are around probably don't...but at what age (of the children) do you stop?


Or are you always dressed and wearing something?

I'm amazed how goofy it feels to walk around naked, doesn't feel natural at all, and also looks goofy and smells too, thank the Lord for Clothes.

With kids around then I would have something on(obviously a baby isn't going to notice such things)but with no kids around then cant see a problem.

I don't walk around "nude" but I do in my underwear.  I usually sleep in underwear and don't bother to dress to go to bathroom or kitchen.

We have no kids at home, only DW and I.

I've never really been one to walk around naked.  I'm with FireSword on this one - it just feels weird. 

I did used to sleep in the nude, however.  Nothing more comfortable IMO.  But then when our oldest daughter was about 3, I woke up one morning to find that she had crawled in bed with my wife and I at some point, and was all snuggled up against my naked butt.  We have worn some kind of clothing 24/7 ever since (that was about 5 years ago).

I'm glad you posted something about this because to be honest I thought about it but was too scared to.  If I lived on my own I'd probably be nude most of the time and keep like a dress by the door that I could slip on to answer it.  As it is I live with six others three of the 7 and under so I keep that confined to my bedroom with the door locked.  It feels freeing to not be confined by clothes and it was the intention for us in the first place.  Adam and Eve were naked until they ate the apple.  Our bodies are a beautiful thing and God never intended for us to cover them up.  Unfortunately society has now put shame and the thought that the only time a person is nude is to take a shower or have sex so they have made what was meant to be natural into a perverted taboo in their minds.

God gave fallen mankind clothing.  That is good enough for me. 

While clothing is sometimes minimal, no unneeded nudity for me/us.

My husband and I both sleep naked if it is warm(ie in the late spring, summer and early autumn). I will happily go from bathroom to bedroom etc with nothing on, but dont walk round the house naked generally as we are are over looked and many people walk along the front of our house. Our kids all left home so we can do as we like. If they were there, or if they come and stay, of course we always cover up.

This will make you all laugh..I clean the house in the nude. I am a clean freak, so I wake up and go to the gym, come back all sweaty, put the baby to bed, and clean the house, take a shower and have clean clothes ready..everything is then clean!

Philippians 4:8~is very important, specially discussing such things.  Sobriety, is a godly fruit that must be display in our life at all things, specially, when speaking on such things.  It is so easy to get in the flesh, on such topics, I can do it so easy, and must guard myself from doing so.

Nevertheless, there is nothing wrong what one does in the privacy of the home.   I have a inground pool and live on several acres isolated from everyone.  We do not always have clothes on, and I am protected to a certain degree if some drives in our driveway, which would leave me enough time to present myself in a appropriate manner. 

I do believe that we should protect our private parts totally from the public, even our very own children.  My girls have never seen me without a shirt of some sort, and I have not seen them in a bathing suit.  I taught them at a very young age that they could not come out of their room unless they were fully dress, bra's and all;  Not that there was any temptation to me, but I wanted them to know that their private parts, are just that, private.  My wife has never come out of her bedroom, unless she was fully dress, (when the children were at home, now she can do what ever her little heart desires, the less, the better) laboring to set an example for our daughters, and son.

A word of godly advice to our dear sisters:  you should never cease from laboring to seduce your husbands, he most likely will reward you greatly. If that means walking naked in your house, then go for it.

These nudists always say those who are clothed are repressed or whatever, I think nudists are crazy bunch, mixed with a few perves.

I hope they never corrupt society with their slimy ways, some European islands are a good example of that corruption.

If you read my statement, I never said that anybody was repressed.  Just because a person chooses to be nude in their own home or in fenced off groups of like minded people that doesn't mean that we are all crazy or a pervert trying to get off.  We aren't asking to allow malls to be clothing optional.  We just desire the ability to do what makes us most comfortable and get back to the days of paradise when bodies were admired for the beauty of creation not just sex.  I've never been to one but there are even churches of people who worship in the nude. 

We are in no way trying to corrupt society and do away with clothing for everybody.  by calling us crazy just because we choose something different from the norm it Is like judging somebody before you really get a chance to know them and their heart not just what the choose to wear or not to wear.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being nude in your own home.  With kids some discretion is certainly warranted, but if you are pre- or post- kids, there is nothing wrong with walking around in the buff.  Nothing at all.

I would never go nude in front of others apart from my husband, and I wouldnt feel it was appropriate to do so. I hardly think that is being modest, as we are told to be. I always dress modestly in front of others.

Nudity in a person's home is not sexual. There is nothing to be embarrassed about. Especially since no one can (or will) see each other in a compromising state of dress. 

We have both sides to this discussion. Those grateful for this thread & those offended by it.

Since the Gospel is offensive to those that are perishing and all of us were unsaved at one time I'm not going to do anything at the moment.

It wasn't directed at you but nudists in general, but it seems you include yourself in that camp. 

The nudist has made it clear what kind of person they are, I'd rather not know anyone while they sit there naked, I'd be compelled to clothe them as Jesus commanded.

Worshipping nude in church does not surprise me, as David Wilkerson prophesied this would come to pass, if it were not for that prophecy Id be unprepared for such disturbing evil.

I've seen some tribes were they walk around in the nude, but these are rarely Christian peoples and not heard the gospel of Christ.

If nudists keep away from me then fine, but when they allow nudity in new York and naked bicycle rides in public uk then they cross the line.

Thanks Firesword.  Okay I guess I kind of jumped the gun.  I'm with you on the nude bike rides.  Even though I like to be nude at home I'd never subject anybody to it who wasn't also comfortable with it.  That's why if I lived on my own I'd keep something by the door to slip on.  I can completely see where that would be shocking and offensive to see especially if there are young children around.

Why? The subject of the thread is quite obvious from the title, so no one is being tricked into reading something that embarrasses them. Though I do not care to discuss my opinions on the subject, I see nothing wrong with it.

Nekkid is naked with an attitude or purpose. (usually a bad one ...)
