Sadly he is being deceived, poor man. Of course many many go the other way.

I am not sure why you feel the need to keep up with this 'Catholic against protestant' thing. Its actually very childish and reminds me of the way we used to behave at school.

They wouldn't keep it up if you and others weren't continuously fueling them.

Mirage is the one starting thread after thread along this same vein. I think he is a bit obsessed actually, and doesn't seem to have any peace.

So what?

People need to speak for the truth.

People need to be saved.  These type of posts are not the way to save them.  If someone notices that their brother is having a problem, then they should pray for him and help him and love him.  If we must respond, then we respond with charity.  That is our calling as Christians, is it not?

It is ridiculous for anyone to think that "speaking the truth" in order to "correct opponents" is going to do anything without charity.  No one is going to browbeat anyone into the truth; that is not how God works, and acting in such a way means by definition that God is not working through us.  And the continued lack of charity between what outsiders will assume to be "Christians" will create a scandal and drive people away from whatever each person's "message" is.

If we love our neighbor, and we believe them to be in error, we need to love him into the "truth".  That is the Christian way.  Otherwise we are just fueling a fire of the tongues.  It's just fuel upon fuel and it ends up nowhere.  Let's understand each other, let's reason with honesty, integrity and charity.
That's  a bit hard when you are told that you are going to hell because you don't go to the same church as they do.

It is a bit hard.  I've probably heard it as much as you have.  I'd probably hear it from Mirage as well since he or she has made it subtly clear that he or she (like AnnaM) is some form of sedevacantist.  Frankly, that is no excuse, and counterproductive.

People can only be saved by knowing the truth.

Isn't it more accurate to say that "people can only be saved by knowing God"?  And there is more to knowing God than to knowing a collection of doctrine.  We need to help people know God in how we act as well, as His ambassadors.  They need to see Christ in us.  And that is truth + charity.

It is not more accurate to say people can only be saved by knowing God. This is what the worlds idea of God says. The problem is not about knowing God but knowing Christ. It is true that Jesus is God incarnate but most out side true faith see it that way. What is more correct and the only true way to the Father except by Christ. You cannot get to God if you leave out the only bridge that takes you to Him

Christ IS God, Mike.

I believe I acknowledged that Cath. How ever we cannot say know God to be saved but know Christ to the only way of salvation ant the only way to the Father. The world does  not have  a problem with God it is Christ they have a problem with being the only way of salvation. You do know that don't you?

The world makes up their own idea of who God is, whether it is from their own feelings that they create for themselves, or perhaps even a self-serving interpretation of scripture.  If people have a problem with Jesus, then they have a problem with God.  The trouble is that they make god into their own image (in different measures, naturally) rather than abiding in what has been revealed and witnessed to through the ages.

Again you cannot say knowing God saves anyone. You are talking about correctness. This is correct.

6 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Jn 3:16

"I am the way the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father but by Me".
It is this the world rejects and is despised of Satan. Jesus said if the world hate you know that it hated me first.

There is a big difference between Catholicism and Protestantism. It's the difference between Heaven and Hell; salvation and sin; light and darkness.

Thou shalt  not make  any graven image  ....

An immaculate   conception   is a concept  designed to dazzle  the imagination   but blind the mind to the truth.

That you peddle  such folly  and call it light  and present sentimental graven images   and other ones of catholic doctrines  shows  in deed what you call  light is in fact   "great darkness "

Long ago proved   by biblical argument and by  Romes own actions and violent reaction   against  the light  and those that preached it .
That you clearly  as do many others are still peddling the same  cunningly devised fables  and damnable  heresies   as they  did in those times  that are easily  still disproved by scripture .

Then   those who think Rome has  repented   and therefore changed   of her former errors  are gravely mistaken.
That you feel justified   by a man  who proffesed to be a protestant but seem not to have confessed Christ (quite different) does you or him no service  or any hope .
Rather   it settles you still further in your errors .

In Christ
