Can anyone tell me how to get over a crush online? I'm good friends w someone online...we've talked on the phone and web cam chatted once. But I feel it will never go any further than this bc of distance and circumstances. God told me we will just be friends. So I have to listen. I want to just stay friends with him but not sure how to get over these feelings I have for him. I'm 35, never been married. He is 46, divorced twice w 2 kids by 2nd wife. Just to give an idea of where we are coming from. I never thought I would be interested in someone like him but here I am.

Any advice?

Thanks!

I would suggest cutting off contact as well if you are getting strong feelings for him. These feelings wont go away unless you stop feeding them.

Also I have been divorced, and I actually know a lovely man who has been divorced twice(both his wives cheated) but I would be very wary of a person with 2 failed marriages behind him and only in his 40's. God is very wise.

Enjoy those feelings.
Don't do something stupid like a striptease for your computer but you can have a great time with this relationship.

No he isnt going to be in person around you...but you still have someone to love.

Thanks for your replies. I was afraid that would be the answer I would get...to cut off communication. Why can't 2 single people of the opposite sex just be friends and be ok with it just being a friendship? So frustrating.

I understand what you are saying about the 2 failed marriages at his age...however both times it was the wife that wanted out of the marriage. But I totally agree to be wary of it.

I just feel sort of naive to think that this could ever work out. Really struggling right now. But as the saying goes, "this too shall pass"

Everyone has given you good advice, specially Chosenone when she said:  "I would suggest cutting off contact as well if you are getting strong feelings for him. These feelings wont go away unless you stop feeding them."

Have you ever consider that most likely you are not the only woman he's talking to?  I am sure you are not.  Beside, how can you truly measure a person over the Internet?  It is almost impossible to do so, without some personal interacting with them under different circumstances, to see who they really are.

Those feelings are from your deceitful heart that we all have.  You need to measure him by the word of God and wise council from godly people.

Trust the scriptures above your feelings.

There is nothing wrong with 2 people of the opposite sex being friends at all.No one said that. Trouble is that you want more than friendship and he doesnt, so you dont see him as just a friend do you. The longer you stay in touch, the stronger your feelings will probably get.

I also agree with Red, he can be who he likes on line, and you think you are in love with him, but you are in love with the person he is showing you, which may not be all of him.

You say that both wives wanted out, but WHY did they want out? People will rarely tell the truth when to comes to why their marriage ended. They will nearly always paint themselves in a good light, while painting their ex in a bad light. They will be economical with the truth.

I met my husband on line, but we met within 4 days, so our getting to know each other was in person as well as on line.
