Maybe this thread just \"blew up\"! :;):

I thought maybe that was his reaction to the movie. :D I've heard that reaction from a couple of people.

I've seen it and I thought it was silly.  I did not care for it much.

Loved it!

My husband hated it, but I laughed all the way through it while he slept.

I loved Napoleon Dynamite.  When my son borrowed it from my nephew I must have watched it 5 times.

Lots of reasons why -- but the main one is this:

In the typical teen movie, if -- and it's a big \"IF\" -- the underdog character \"wins\" in the end, it's never HIM winning.

Either he gets a big makeover & becomes just like the \"in\" crowd that devalued him before --

Or he resorts to mean underhanded things to \"win\" -- and no matter how satisfying the revenge, it's a little sad that he had to do it that way --

But in the case of Napoleon Dynamite, he wins just by being himself.

He remains his weird, odd, unusual self.  The closest thing to the \"makeover\" I so despise is that he taught himself a skill.  He studied up on something that proved useful when he wanted to \"save\" his worthy friend Pedro.  But he was still that wacky Napoleon.

And his brother!  And the hopelessly nerdy way he went online to find his girl!

And the sane, beautiful, and fully-clothed  Lafawnduh shows up!  Wow!  Even nerdy little \"uncool\" guys can be appreciated for their sweet qualities and find a really foxy lady to love them!  Fairy tales do come true!

And the (secret!  shhh!  extra feature!) wedding scene was so sweet and weird and typically Napoleon Dynamite, it made me itch.  I loved it.

I really liked the movie.  If I ever find it at a decent price on DVD I'm buying it!

Janine,

You articulated much better than I could have the reasons I liked the movie, too.  Guess I can kind of identify with the clumsy, nerdy, intense character of Napoleon Dynamite!  And the truth is, as you pointed out, that those of us who are like that aren't ever going to miraculously change into debonair heroes like James Bond!  So, we just have to take the \"skills\" we have and go for it! :applause:

This boy at church gave me a button with Napoleon wearing his awesome, incredible $12 suit with the word \"skills\" over it.

I can put that button on and I feel legit, man!

I knew I was gonna love the movie at this scene:

Boy on Bus: \"Hey Napolean, what are you gonna do today?\"

Napolean: \"Whatever I wanna do, GOSH!\"

I love this movie!  It is so funny!  We bought the DVD.

My favorite part is when he feeds the llama...dunno why it just strikes me so funny!
