Help Me Teach My Children

RushU

Hello, my name is Rush and I am reaching out to you for help in teaching my children a couple of valuable lessons. I have always taught my children that anything can be accomplished with faith and to believe in the compassion and love in others. Before I get too much further, I want to tell you a quick story about the best vacation my family has ever gone on, and please, rest assured, I am not about to ask for any money.

Two years ago, my family and I were on our way to California for some fun in the sun. We had a nice trip to San Diego planned to enjoy Comic-Con but left about 5 days before the event so that we could visit Disneyland, Sea World, and a few other California staples. While we were driving from Arizona to California, my son and I were in one vehicle and my wife, daughter, and best friend were driving a vehicle behind us. Well, as fate would have it, a tire blew out in the vehicle my son and I were in and, long story short, it resulted in a roll over accident that left me with 30+ staples in my head, 5 stitches in my foot (the doctor said my toe "exploded"), severed tendons in 3 fingers of my left hand, and a damaged wrist. Prior to the accident, I was a musician.  Those days are over but I lived! My son? Thanks to God, he wound up with a sore arm and two stitches in his thumb. The van was completely totaled but after 8 hours in the emergency room, we were released. The reason that this is the best vacation we've ever had is that we learned just how important we were to each other and how quickly our lives could change; we learned how to appreciate every moment we have together. Had we all driven in one vehicle, as we usually did, there is no doubt that my wife, daughter, and friend would all have been killed. Instead, call it God if you would like (I know I would like to think so), something told us to take two vehicles and we all lived. So many other factors were involved and if only one of those factors had been just a bit off, either my son or I or both would have died that day. My son and I insisted that we continue our vacation and while we did not get to ride as many rides as we would have liked or see as many shows as we would have liked, we still had a great time just being with our family at the happiest place on Earth. This vacation was the best because it could have gone a completely different way but, thanks to the protection from our Heavenly Father, instead brought us closer together. We will never forget it or take each other for granted ever again.

The reason I am sharing this story with you is that our story was recently selected as a finalist in a contest after submitting this as my Best Vacation and the winning entry will win a trip to Disneyland for the whole family.  Currently, we are in last place and it appears there is no hope in is winning.  However, as we all know, all things are possible through Christ, so I wanted to reach out to the community in an attempt to show my children this miracle. Just as important, I want to teach them just what a strong community they are a part of and how we can rely on each other for help.  Again, I am not asking for money or anything like that; I am simply asking for a few seconds of your time to head to the Pima Federal Credit Union's Facebook page to vote.  Here is the link [link removed] but I understand how questionable some links are, so if you would prefer to simply search for Pima Federal Credit Union on Facebook, I am sure that you will find it.  The voting tab is at the top of the page.  I appreciate any votes that we can get in the time remaining (voting closes on the 15th, so not much time left) and if we actually manage to win, you will be helping to teach my children lessons that will guide them throughout their lives.  Thank you for reading this, even if you choose not to vote, and God bless.
