Here is a simple explanation for you Mike.

God's moral law is eternal; it existed from the beginning.  God's moral law was reflected in the Ten Commandments, which he gave in time to the nation of Israel.  That is, you can see the moral law in the Ten Commandments, but they are not exactly the same thing.

For a simple analogy, compare grapes to grape juice cocktail.  The grapes came before grape juice cocktail, and grape juice cocktail is based on grapes, and is one way to use grapes, but is not the same as grapes, because it has grapes plus other stuff in it.  It is a handy way to get grapes but is not the same as grapes itself.  Similarly the Laws of the New Testament are like wine to grapes.  Wine is another grape product, but is not the same as grapes, though it is based on grapes.  Wine is not the same as grape juice cocktail either.

Cath no offense but your eyes are short sighted. You are not seeing the true depth of it all. This thing reaches as far a Babylon. You know that That Babylon was Idolatrous as a city in the old testament, but it is representative of the world and its idolatry. All the world which knows not Christ and is independent of Him is idolatrous, loving the world more with its ambitions and love for money and the material life
It loves its gold and silver and all that glorifies self.

The problem is the nature of apostasy. Did not Israel fall into apostasy countless times until Christ. the nature of apostasy is to fall away from God and His perfect will for us to once again embrace the world and its idolatry. See How she sits as a Queen Revelation This is the apostasy of the great whore  of Babylon and its Idolatries.

This Idolatry is  vial in the eyes of God. It is why God addresses it first in the Ten commandments. Gods eyes are not short but knows the beginning from the end. He knows the world and its ways yet in its mist there isa remnant and they are His true bride. He will bring them out at the harvest.

Proverbs 18:1-2.       Your proverb is nice but it does not encompass the depth of knowledge that comes from God.

If you judge me then you must believe you have true understanding. It is God who reveals. did he reveal more light to you. Perhaps you could share  is it a dark secret.

None the less I have spoken the truth. the whole depth of it in a nut shell.

I prefer this translation:

Proverbs 18 (NIV)

1 An unfriendly person pursues selfish ends
and against all sound judgment starts quarrels.

2 Fools find no pleasure in understanding
but delight in airing their own opinions.

You can apply them to yourself as well if you'd like.

Cath are you miss judging me. I address you with respect.  I was not starting a quarrel but sharing what I know. I am not airing opinions but sound discernment of the scripture . If they go against your beliefs its no reason for accusing falsely.

You never reposted that your understanding was more light than I shared  with you.  If your truth is greater than mine and you say I am false than please do so.  I have great confidence in what I shared because my understandding comes from Gods word and His revelation.
