Hi, old, real old, new guy here...

Greetings folks!

I am a 64 year old Christian and Bible student, having been saved back in the heady days of 1965. Since that time, I've gone through two or three life changing but difficult times and experiences.

First, having been raised in a Protestant church, in western Kentucky...it took me some years to do as Paul says and to, "Forget(ing) those things which are behind" (Phil 3:13) and to allow all old things to pass away, and to insure all things become new (2 Cor 5:17).

It is hard to wipe the slate clean when we've been raised to believe a certain way. But there came a time for me (1975), when I had to let the Bible say exactly what it says, and to measure my life thereby. So I put aside a fairly busy ministry, a hard won education, and a certain reputation...and set about proving or disproving everything I knew, or thought I knew about the Word of God, about church, grace and all things biblical.

And next, I set up a discipline for my life that started allowing me to replace all those bits of false 'truth' I had known, and to replace them with God's Word alone. And while I love fellowshipping in the Word and the Lord, listening to all who speak to me...I trust no man on earth with my eternal life. It is to God only that I look for deliverance, truth and light.

So...when you read my posts, and see my thoughts on paper, please bear in mind that there is nought in me but love for my fellowman, love for God, and a healthy fear of God as well. And that my final authority is always and only The Word of God.

Ya got a couple of years on me...but I won't let that stop me from disagreeing from time to time.


We got a whole bunch of opinionated folks here. Some of them even know what it is that they are talking about too. 


Some even like playing with snakes.

Hi JJ well 64 isnt 'really old' going by the number of people I know in their 80's and even 90's. Welcome here.

Greetings to you as well.  If 64 is old, then not sure where that leaves me.  But you have been in the faith for a while, so you are indeed an old saint, or at least what could be call a elder among the saints. Dress up and join in. Ephesians 6:11-18
