Sam and Fred are on a merry-go-round, which is spinning clockwise at 15 mph. Sam walks at 3 mph from point A around the edge of the merry-go-round to point B. Fred travels the same path at the same speed, but in reverse, from point B to point A. If they start at the same time they will arrive at the same time, even though the merry-go-round is spinning in only one direction.

This is something you can try for yourself if you don't believe it.
