Is it Not Jesus who was our first example of selflessness. Do we do good for as examples' for the established church or is it the spirit of Christ working in us. Why do we only focus on the works of a person without glorifying Christ who's spirit is in us to do these things

If I have done any good thing let it not be that I did it but  because Christ has changed my nature so that I need no recognition for anything I have done. My reward is not of this world but in heaven.
very good point!  Is it about 'us' or Him?  To me, it's about Him.  I sure hate to think where I'd be in this earthly life if it weren't for Him.  I do see it tho in others all around me.  It makes me so grateful for Him and my relationship with Him.

Today is the feast day of Saint Elizabeth of Hungary.

Here is an extract from a letter of Conrad of Marburg, Elizabeth's Spiritual Director

From this time onward Elizabeth's goodness greatly increased. She was a lifelong friend of the poor and gave herself entirely to relieving the hungry. She ordered that one of her castles should be converted into a hospital in which she gathered many of the weak and feeble. She generously gave alms to all who were in need, not only in that place but in all the territories of her husband's empire. She spent all her own revenue from her husband's four principalities, and finally she sold her luxurious' possessions and rich clothes for the sake of the poor.

Twice a day, in the morning and in the evening, Elizabeth went to visit the sick. She personally cared for those who were particularly repulsive; to some she gave food, to others clothing; some she carried on her own shoulders, and performed many other kindly services. Her husband, of happy memory, gladly approved of these charitable works. Finally, when her husband died, she sought the highest perfection; filled with tears, she implored me to let her beg for alms from door to door.

Apart from those active good works, I declare before God that I have seldom seen a more contemplative woman. When she was coming from private prayer, some religious men and women often saw her face shining marvellously and light coming from her eyes like the rays of the sun.

Before her death I heard her confession. When I asked what should be done about her goods and possessions, she replied that anything which seemed to be hers belonged to the poor. She asked me to distribute everything except one worn out dress in which she wished to be buried.

This is a person who reflects the love and selflessness of Christ.  But where is the witness for Christ.

The heading read  Today is the feast day of Saint Elizabeth of Hungary    . Could this easily have been    said Elizabeth of Hungary who's life exemplifies the love and compassion of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Even in the midst of goodness you would find something to gripe about.

"She asked me to distribute everything except one worn out dress in which she wished to be buried"

Not a sumptous robe in sight but still you find something ro complain of.

Do you never tire of such negativity? I do of hearing it.

Next we will have Amo coming in with 30 links to sites knocking the Pope of the time, or Jesuits.

You people make me sick!

The problem Winsome is for Catholics its about praise of men for virtues and good deeds. Its look at us and all the saints of our Church. If one does these good things let it not be that our peculiar church order has anything to do with it but that Christ lives in us. Not for any vain show but loving our neighbor as our selves. No Greater love is there than one who gives his life for his friends.
The other day there was a house fire in one of our near towns and all but one got out of the house. A frantic daughter was saying my Father is in there. A man who just happened to be close by ran into the burning house filled with smoke. He ran out with the man over his shoulder saving his life. When they went to thank him he was no where to be seen.  Was he a believer or just a good Samaritan. we will not know.  If he was a believer what church did he go to so that it can glory

Do you see what I am trying to say
