The Mitzvot, Cont.

The Mitzvot is the term for the 613 total positive and negative commands in the Torah (Books of Moses or first five books in the Bible).   I have listed these before, but the posting is quite lengthy.   I can post them again should anyone want me to.  Jews believe that these are acts which God commands of them.

Of the 613, 365 of them are negative commands, or the "do nots."

Of the 613, 248 of them are positive commandments, or the "do's."

The 365 correspond with the 365 days in a solar year.   The 248 correspond with the supposed number of organs in the human body.
