We moved in with our son and daughter in law in Dec.

I love them both very much and the 8 children.

But..........

Her cooking is good , but..................

one day I seen that yesterdays food was still on the stove.
I figured it was kind of cool in the kitchen so I guess it is ok ?

Well, I thought I was having  dairy that no one knew about I am  not  able to have dairy.

With out  taking pills.

Well surprise, no dairy .

It seems like the food was getting re - warmed  over and over.

No on has a problem with this, I guress they are all used to it and my husband  does not seem
to have any thing wrong with it  either.

I thought that was the worse thing you could do to food !   I thought there was a name for this also ?

Any way.   Its really causing me a lot of pain and running to the B. R.  all day.

I am hoping now that she  knows about this  and has not feed me this in a week, that the problem
will go away ?

Any idea ?

Thank you for any help

Alan

Yep, bacteria sets into food that is of ideal temperature; left at room temperature or un-refrigerated and/or not reheated to acceptable temperatures to kill the bacteria that has set in.

Someone in your household is going to get very sick one day from this habit.

Some useful information in those links, please educate your family members and voice your opinion against such practices.

The thing is she always  heats the food back to a high heat before adding any thing to it.

And the family has been eating like this for years.   the older is going on 16 and the younger ones  5.   No problems !   Not even my husband .

When food is reheated it will certainly kill bacteria that has set in, but if it has spoiled in any way from previous contamination (sitting on the counter all day) then bacteria can reenter the food at a much faster rate, in some instances when food is cool enough for consumption.

If no one has been sick yet it is just by luck but the practice of leaving food out all day is akin to playing Russian roulette.
Wouldn't be me or my family.

That can be most uncomfortable. May not have anything to do with the food sources you are eating in which case you will need to see a doctor, but my advice is to rule out food bacteria first.

Bless you grams

Thank you !

I guess what I am trying to get across is  I am in trouble with dairy !

I started to take one pill, moved it to 3 and then to 8 and now over 10 !

So I do not take dairy any more.

And they eat different then  what I fixed, so I have a lot to consider !

They may have potatoes and rice for a meal  twice a day !
That is new to me , since it happens quite often.
So after 5 months I am still wondering and in need of help !

No. But then again, I'd never eat at a home wherein someone prepares food the way your daughter-in-law does. Food bacteria can kill.

Sounds like you have food poisoning.

Stop eating what she cooks is first thing to find if that is the source of your troubles. Likely is.
Secondly, if there is a health food store near you go and get live culture acidolphelus. You'll find it in the refrigerated supplements section.
My wife was prescribed antibiotics once and those tend to kill the acidolphelus in the gut, which are what is responsible for colon health. And that tends to lead also, the antibiotics, to yeast infection to compound the problem of side effects due to antibiotics. Worked like a charm. Her intestinal health was optimal in no time.

Here are some links that may help you. I used keywords particular to your troubles.
Also, drink spring water instead of tap while healing from this.  Tap water can have all sorts of things in it that can compound your issues, including fluoride.

If your DiL serves rice and potatoes in the same meal those are both starches. Not a good idea for balanced nutrition. While at the health food store, if you opt to go, you might want to talk to an employee there about what you're experiencing at the DiL's house food wise. There are a lot of books out there on proper nutrition and food prep.

Likely her family isn't suffering as you do because their immune system has built a tolerance for her at risk practices as relates to food storage, or the proper lack thereof.

Best wishes. Keep us apprised.

Is it possible that you do your own cooking?

I worked in a microbiology lab for a number of years and in order to sterilize ( or kill all bacteria) we would have to heat our equipment in an autoclave up to 250 degree F for 20 minutes.

Bacteria and diarrhea go hand in hand-- the enterics will wreak havoc  on your digestive system.

So please be carefull with leftovers and re heating food. No sense in suffering the consequences.. Great links posted already, please read and educate yourself.

Thank you  very much Allan.........

I am praying this will help me !   I did notice one other thing that may also be doing things to me.
They do not wash the fruit or vegetables, when ever they do it is  only the out side like a head of lettuce.

If you have eaten a lot of this food you should consider taking a pro-biotic to straighten out your gut.

A probiotic is an excellent idea! Rushes through the system also take bacilli (which are necessary for regularity and absorption of nutrients in the body) can eventually be a chronic problem-opening you up to all kinds of problems such as over worked bowel, malnutrition, or infection. Replace what you lose! Low sugar yogurt before each meal, probiotic supplement, and cheddar cheese.

I have no problems with left overs and often eat the same food for up to a week, but I keep it refrigerated. One time I made the mistake of leaving food on the stove for three days, and it spoiled; I won't do that again. I've even had food spoil when I left it in the freezer too long, and I and some others got mild food poisoning from it. In my opinion, some foods are no good warmed up even once, and some foods get better with warming them up.

If you are going for outing with your children you should firstly knowledge about the weather of the location where are you Going. You need to keep necessary things with you like food, clothing and others depend on the location and the purpose of your tour. Because our body not allow difference food, water and air for a new location. Food is one of the most concerning things you should care about. Adult can manage but kids body not accept different weather its take time to observe it.

Adult can mange their body with drinking wine or taking pills to manage their body. Some of the people are very interested in old wine. There are many only portals who provide a large database of fine wine.

I hope you're getting enough protein.   Beans are a good source of protein.

If you can't have dairy try Almond Milk instead.   Maybe you can use that with a cereal.

You need to drink plenty of water.   You don't want to become dehydrated.

Yes    !  With both of them ..

Maybe  I should  try the  Pro. B.

And  I have  to say  she is  trying to help me  now..  But  having to cook for  10 people

is not easy and then  do mine, I do not want to make it  more complicated for her.

Because even fried  foods  are  not helping me.   And  I just cant  get in her way and do
mine my self......  It would not work...

An excellent pro-biotic that is very effectivve but gentle on one's gut is Yakult. It's sold either containing sugar or without (Sucralose), each small bottle containing 65ml drank neat, one taken daily. It's available worldwide. See Wikipedia for general knowledge:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yakult

Almond Milk being non-lactose also is excellent. Comes in 1 litre Tetrapaks bought most places.

Its been a while now.......  I  am doing well....

And the children  finish what is left,  so no  left overs  very little  if any.

The children are eating more and are not  heavy  ,,,,  normal looking !

I do not see food  out  any more,  because  she wants to save it ,,, so it  is put away.    things have changed....

Alan

Hi grams, glad to hear you're doing well! Nice to see you  ::smile::
