Let us reflect....

Ladonia

In this Lenten season, let us reflect on the passion of Our Lord.

Let us reflect on the moments He spent in the Garden of Gethsemane where He prayed fervently to His Father in heaven on all that He was about to go through.

Let us reflect on Him being scourged and how He stood up to this heinous torture, suffering severe pain from every blow for our benefit.

Let us reflect on His being crowned with a binding of thorns which were pressed deeply into His scalp, dressed in a robe and mocked in a bizarre display of hate and ignorance.

Let us reflect as He carried the heavy wooden cross through the city,  wracked with pain through and through, stumbling and falling on His way to Calvary.

Let us reflect on those final moments when the nails went through His body, the cross was lifted high, and His suffering reached a crescendo until life finally ebbed from Him and victory was assured.

Yes, let us reflect on all He did for us.

I don't wait for Lent,  I think about it every single day.

I don't wait for Lent,  I think about it every single day.

As do I and that's a good thing, but so many don't. A meditation on those singular events is a positive spiritual exercise that can put many of the things that happen to us in their proper perspective. Lent can be a time of renewal from the ordinary days of our lives. Do you ever fast?

Amen to that and I do the same.  In the Old Testament  priesthood the children of Israel could only be forgiven once a year. Thank God for Jesus who forgives us of a contrite heart every day.
