Hello there, I'll like to share what has been going on since I decided to refrain from masturbation. This is week 3 and I can say I have passed the "wall". The very first days I was burning. Yes. I couldn't stop lusting but somehow I managed to refrain from masturbation. After one week and a half all my sexual thoughts about women changed. Instead of picturing naked women, the most "naughty" kind of images I started imagining kissing, hugs, kisses on my cheek. Physical contact rather than sexual  ::nodding:: . Also, I felt more "annoyed" by things that usually never annoyed me. My bathroom was a mess "Boom" I left it almost shining. I asked myself "what could I do now?" I didn't even realise it and I was already playing the guitar  ::playingguitar:: So my view now (while I'm still refraining from masturbation) towards women has changed, I no longer see them as means to an end. But one thing for sure, is that I feel the need to find a partner. Yes! And I have read about that too, sexual urges is the natural "motive" that makes us want to find a partner. In my case, I doubt I'll remain refraining from masturbation for long as I don't date even repentant fornicatresses.
To those married I would recommend you (if you only feel like to) refraining from sex and masturbation for one week and see your changes.

Hi! Thanks a lot for sharing your story, I find it quite inspiring...
I'm a 19 year old lad who has never dated before and over the past few months I've been feeling extremely 'in heat' I can't stop thinking about sex and I've been dreaming about sex a lot as well (2 times all ready this week), I feel very pressurized to satisfy this urge but I know that I am a Christian and I can't afford to sin sexually. Evlderytime these urges come, I would masturbate but it still does not solve the problem, I have been trying reading the bible lately but still it doesn't solve the problem in the long run. I feel tormented and I just want this to stop, I have tried distracting myself by keeping myself busy but the urge always returns! I feel like the only way to stop this is by satisfying these urges with a prostitute but I know that it is a sin so now I'm out of ideas, what should I do? please help me!

Pitiful that you have to DEgenerate yourself in speaking about a subject that men should NOT engage in! If one thinks he needs to relief himself from a burning that he cannot control, THEN he should find himself a wife. I'm NOT saying that ALL masturbation IS sin, but most is.

What are you guys on about? Not much in the Bible anout beating it at all. Don't even need to "lust after" anything or whatever. It's more like "wow I'm stressed, hey look a boner!" Or "I van't sleep, hey look a boner". And I'm 15, I know lust,  don't need that to induce orgasm. Fairdinkum, who knew that sin was so latent that you bloody well do it unconsciously in your sleep!

Like porn addiction it's a trick of Satan to occupy your time.  I'm dealing with the knots in my stomach the fear of messing up, but it's a daily thing with prayer and Bible study.

Hi chaps!

I think it can be an enormous help to do what David says in the Psalms "I have hidden Your Word in my heart - that I may not sin against You.".  IMO there are quite a few verses/sections of Scripture which we need to memorize and quote out softly to ourselves (actually speaking out is said to help such a process I read somewhere).  However, I cannot in all honesty say that such practice is 100% effective (in my case! - see my topic "besetting' sin in this sub-forum) - but am sure it can help.  These are the sort of Scripture extracts I am using (am using a now old "New English Bible" version , and of course there is some variation between versions), if interested in this approach you can locate them and write them down on a scrap of paper, and glance at it frequently during each day till it is firmly fixed in your memory : -

"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the indwelling Spirit, and the Spirit is God's gift to you.  You do not belong to yourselves but were bought at a price - therefore honour God in your body"

" ... so sin must no longer reign in your mortal body, exacting obedience to the body's desires (that's it isn't it!!!). You must no longer put it's several parts at sins disposal as implements for doing wrong. No! - put yourselves at the disposal of God, as dead men raised to life. (This is what is supposed to happen to us at a believer's baptism "buried/resurrected" like Jesus was - our "old" man killed off!); for sin shall no longer be your master, because you are no longer under law, but under the grace of God."(When you locate this in your Bible, there is a very good passage that follows,  about us being slaves to whoever we obey - worth noting!!!

(From 1 Thess 4,1-8  I had a difficult job re-locating this, to make sure I got this "powerful" one correct, 2 of my concordances didn't identify it, so I had to "Google" for help!)    "...For these were the orders we gave you in the name of the Lord Jesus.  This is the will of God, that you should be holy.  You must refrain from fornication, each one must learn to master and hallow his body - not giving way to lust like the pagans who are ignorant of God. And no man must do his brother wrong in this matter, or invade his rights.  For as we told you before with all emphasis, the Lord punishes all such offences. For God called us to holiness, not to impurity.  Anyone who flouts these rules, flouts not man, but God who bestows upon you His Holy Spirit."

I am sad to say that despite such memorized passages - if one is determined to "pleasure oneself" (i.e. the "pressure" seems overpowering - you have to deal with the temptation before it becomes full-blown sin!) - or it will surely happen - so it's no good bleating about it after the event!  The thing you must then urgently do afterwords, is to come running back to the Lord, confess your failure (for the umpteenth time probably - since we are still in the "flesh") and trust that He has paid for all of your sin past, present, and future - He knows us through and through, and wants you to look to Him as much as you are able.  We are so grateful for His mercy! Remember "Those that are forgiven much - love much" so always come back with a heart overflowing with gratitude towards Him.  Don't forget Jesus parable of The Prodigal Son!!!  Would the father coldly say to the returning dejected son "Oh! So you've decided to come back then!" - far from it - he rushed to meet him "I've been looking out each day for you - hoping and praying that you would soon return!!!"

Am sure there are many other helpful sections that examination of the epistles will appeal particularly to you - use them, Scripture is "the sword of the Spirit"

God be with you, my brothers in Christ
