What church do you attend?

I just thought it would be fun to find out which church everyone goes to.  I attend Princeton Community Church, which actually isn't in Princeton (New Jersey) at all, it's in Pennington, NJ!  It's a very nice contemporary church, the Bible is preached, and our minister, Craig Casey, is a very humble man who "talks to" the congregation rather than "preaching at" us.  We have, in my opinion, one of the best vacation bible schools in the U.S., and we have lots of great small groups.

Tell us about your church, folks!

I go to Southside church in Clayton NC.  It's non-denominational, Calvinist in its theology.  The pastor is very down to earth, and a good bible teacher.  He preaches expositionally.  We take communion every Sunday, which I love.  The worship is contemporary in it's music, but we do a mix of hymns and choruses.  We do not have Sunday night or mid week services (I wish we did) but we do have Sunday School.  And we have small groups, and a men's bible study which I attend.

The only "bad" thing about it is it's 18 miles away.

Lady Daffodil

Hi Jason.  My church is about 14 miles away, but it takes roughly 20 minutes to get there because it's mostly highway driving and the traffic is lighter on Sunday morning than during the week.  Your church sounds very nice.  We have communion every week too, which I also like.  ::smile::

Catholica

I attend The Church of the Epiphany in Coon Rapids, MN.

We have had perpetual adoration of the blessed sacrament 24/7 for decades, and there is a mass at least once every day, twice on saturdays, four times on Sundays.  We are about 3500 families and there are numerous ministries in the Church from one that feeds the hungry for free (family table) once a month to another that supports women in crisis pregnancies with items for babies, any many more.  We have a K-8 school as well as faith formation programs for different age levels, including E3:HS and E3:MS.  We organized to try to keep marriage traditional in Minnesota during the ballot referendum in 2012.

Among our ministries is one in particular that has been on the ground delivering clean drinking water and other support for the poor in Haiti for  twenty years called "Reiser relief" which had a particularly important job suddenly when the Haitian earthquake hit.

Our choir is wonderful and, at most masses, we try to bring back some of the more traditional elements of the mass, using traditional hymns as well as the introit.  We also have one Sunday mass that utilizes more modern music for the mass.

If you are ever in the Twin Cities in MN send me a private message and we can attend mass together.

We have just moved to a new county in the UK, its in the midlands, we really like it here, and we have started going to a local baptist church here (dont want to be too specific). Its only 10 mins walk away from our house, so in our local community which is what we wanted. I have had enough of driving to churches that arent even in the community where we live.
It seems friendly welcoming and relaxed, and also Biblically based. We are now asking round about mid week groups to join, there are quite a few of them. They now have 3 services on sunday as they got too big for 2, lots for children, and many different outreach things going on. They also support several Christian charities and some missionaries.
I am sure I will find out more as time goes by.

Lady Daffodil

Catholica, I have some relatives in Minnesota; in Austin, Blaine, St. Paul, and East Grand Forks.  I myself live in Pennsylvania, although my husband and I both work in New Jersey and our church is also in New Jersey.   ::smile::

Ask and it shall be given.  We start having a Wednesday night service the Wednesday after Labor Day.

House church for me.

Chosen brought back memories when you said it was a 10 minute walk.  While we were in Europe And  ask for directions we often heard it is only about a 10 minute walk you go  Oh wait you are Americans you don't walk. Afraid they were right. ::smile::

If I walked for ten minutes, I would be at my mailbox at the end of the drive.

I go a Baptist church about a 5 minute drive from our house.  We have visited nearly every church in town.  Some were pretty good, one the pastor was rude when he was supposed to be greeting us goodbye.  Never go back there.
So we settled into this one.  Not completely sure of it though.  When I was in the hospital, the pastor and his wife did not visit me.  But they visit nearly everyone else who has been in the hospital.  So I felt left out.

Not saying where this is.  Somewhere in the western US.

Southside is almost in Garner.  I've been there several times.

Could that contribute to the obesity issues there ::eek:: ::eek:: ::eek::

We walk quite a lot, and with this latest move we made sure that we were within 10 minutes walk of a supermarket, a good church and other local amenities. After all you never know if one day you will get too old to drive or be otherwise unable to drive, and we arent intending to move again.

UK is pretty close to the USA in terms of obesity.  So what is the UK's excuse for obesity?

Well thats the difference between the USA and the UK. ::nodding::

I like to be near amenities so that we don't need to rely on the car all the time. We can walk in 20 mins to a good coffee shop at our local really nice garden centre, 8 mins to a large supermarket(which also has a good coffee shop) also to doctors and dentist,  and 2-3 minutes further on to our new church, a quite new church centre with lots going on. Perfect.  ::nodding::

We have that as well, we have farmland and countryside all around here. We back onto a park, so have hedgehogs and foxes visiting our garden and so many species of birds on our bird feeder each day. Best of both worlds.

Different strokes for different folks.   The UK has a density of 7 times more than the US, so it makes sense we are a bit more spread out.  The state I live in is roughly the same size as the UK but has about 15% of the population of the UK.

Chosen we enjoyed our time in the UK.  Yes there was a stream Right behind my cousin (who lived there at the time) we would walk along the steam to see all the swans and other wild life, But like TC said much of the US is different. I live on 90 acres and  yes it is a 10 minute walk to the mail box.  Enjoy walking in my woods but when it comes to stores it is an 8 mile drive or pack a tent for the walk.  ::smile::

I grew up in Detroit and went to a Catholic Church.  Transfiguration !
[Which we were  not using a bible in those day's.  .......only prayer book.]
At  about the age of  50  plus.   Our children  got us interested in

a Bible Church.    And that is were we  belong today.

Grace Bible Church.  In  Warren , Michigan.

We have gone through the bible so many times and it seems like  there
is so much more to read............ [ " really to learn I mean" ] I love it !

I am part of a "Bible Church."  I looked at the church website and it isn't a typical bible church.  It seems to be from a different movement theologically than the movement I grew up in.

I go to the Salvation army church right now.  I don't know how long, but I know the Lord has me there.  My husband doesn't go to church or read the bible.  Yet.

Raised Missionary Baptist...
Attended Southern Baptist for a few years..
Now I am in a Baptist church that has embraced the truth about the manifestations of the Holy Spirit.

I love the "Yet" at the end of your statement, don't give up on that hope.  I was that husband, my wife never pushed the issue, simply led by example and prayed, prayed a lot.  It worked, been going to church more or less regularly for years now, I teach adult classes, even preach on occasion, and take care of building maintenance.

I attend the Glamorgan Church of God (Anderson Indiana) in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.  We are non denominational, meaning pretty much whosoever believeth in Him has the prerequisites to be a member.  I don't always agree with the pastor, or other congregants, and don't feel the need to; which is ideal as I can be disagreeable on occasion, I am comfortable there.

Love my church,
Carey.
