Need a better coping mechanism

Daemon Blackfyre

Hi all.

So because life has been a bit chokkas of late and I've also had some real dark dross clinging onto me from the past, I've been using cannabis recently to help me calm down a bit and get on with it. However, COPD sounds like it kinda sucks even off into the future so I think I need to move on from it but it's kinda hard t find another way for me to slow down like cannabis does. I guess actually addressing the problem would help but I don't think I can address that right now.

So anyone know any good immediate calming ways to deal with anxiety and how to I stop my current one's impulse?

Mindfulness and Mindfulness meditation are good therapies.  I would google the terms.  There are many guided meditations that one can listen to and try to escape and meditate and be mindfully aware.  Also, as far as coping, I would also google "ways to cope."  you should find one site that lists 100 or more different ways to cope with anxiety or anger or really anything.  Also you might look into CBT-cognitive behavior therapies, in other words learn to think differently by being aware of self-statements and ways that you have negative thinking. As far as cannabis use is concerned, I don't recommend it. Get a lot of rest. Rest at times you're not used to resting even for 5 or 10 minute intervals.  Deep breathing is important and learning to breathe correctly from the diaphragm.

I can see that this post was started more than a year ago, and I hope that you are okay now, Daemon Blackfyre. As an occupational therapist in training, I can say that there are a lot of positive coping mechanisms out there, including having an accountability partner, generally being more social (I'm an introvert and can say that there is a way to be social while still having time to oneself), exercise, and so on.

What it really comes down to, though, is the heart of the problem, which isn't something you can likely work out on your own: most of us can't. Because you're here on this site, I can only assume you have faith in God or at least some inclination toward Him. We all have our different stories and wrestle with God differently. This is mine, and I hope it helps you understand your own struggle just a little bit better. You will be in my prayers.
