Than tongue or pen can ever tell
It goes beyond the highest star
And reaches to the lowest hell
The guilty pair, bowed down with care
God gave His Son to win
His erring child He reconciled
And pardoned from his sin
Could we with ink the ocean fill
And were the skies of parchment made

And so why a self made rendition??  In the first set of lyrics it reads 'His erring child He reconciled and pardoned from sin'.

Did Christ have an erring child before the child was grafted into Christ?  Are ALL children His Children?  If so, where would be children of the devil be?  Are the ones which The Holy Bible refers to as 'children of the devil' ALSO children of God??  If so, the road unto eternal life is a bit different than what is commonly taught.

However, the 1st set might describe how a back-slidden baptized Christian fell out of communication with God and fell back into the world's way of doing things.  And so, His erring child, He re-reconciled and pardoned of sin' would make sense if it was about the back-slidden baptized Christian.
