My pick for the finals is San Antonio versus Miami, with Miami winning it all in 6 games. I think that Houston could very easily sneak in out west, and that Detroit is a definite contender in the east (these two teams are the hottest teams in the NBA right now).

marc

Either the Spirit of St. Louis, The Virginia Squires, or the Memphis Tams.

I thought professional basketball was on strike.   ???

tidbit

No, wait . . . that was wishful thinking.

James Rondon

Speaking of wishful thinking... I was hoping that baseball, football, and hockey players would all strike this year so that the real atheletes, the professional basketball players could take center stage in the sports world!  :D

I was hoping for Dallas, but I am hoping in vain.

James Rondon

At this point, they would be very fortunate not to get swept. With fiery Avery Johnson at the helm, however, I look for Dallas to at least win game 3, and most likely win game 5, but ultimately, lose the series in 6 games.

Jim Abb

I'll let my bias show and pick Detroit to repeat. They are cooking in full gear now and look very much like the team that demolished the Lakers last year.

Where are my Wizards in this poll????? They are not "other", show my Wiz Kids a little love!!!

my humble 2 cents

Basketball season ends with the Final 4.  What's all this mess about the NBA?  It's warm outside.  Nows the time to be outside hitting stuff with big sticks, not putting stuff in a basket like some wash woman.

Nick... Sports have evolved since the days of stickball! A true athletic event does not allow for one to take a small nap, and still not miss any of the action!!

Bon Voyage

If the NBA was gonna be a true sport, they would move up the rim 2 feet and call traveling, etc.

While you're napping, there is a lot of thought and planning going on.  Games on the diamond are for thinking people.

As for thinking and basketball, what the typical NBA player got on the SAT exam is drool.

I think they should set up a penalty box, a la the NHL.  You foul, you sit for two minutes.  Make your team defend 5 on 4.

spurly

I think they should make it a requirement that each NBA team has to pass the ball at least seven times before they shoot the ball.

I played a game in high school where we went into the contest very shorthanded. By the fourth quarter, the players that were on hand had mostly fouled out. We were left with myself, and two other guys playing 3 on 5. If memory serves me correctly, we ended up winning the game, anyway.

Dallas has a chance after all.  Game 7 on their home floor.  My only wish is that for this one game Steve Nash would once again don a Mavericks jersey.
