No rule against it. Personally I don't like long posts either. Ignoring long posts is no skin off my teeth.

Grams, some read fast, so, length is determined by whom?

To me, it all depends on the subject and what is being said. I read a lot every day, so to me, no problem if the subject is what I desire to read. But, I do understand what you saying, considering people's attention span and what one can take in at a time. Sometimes, the length may be needed, but forum discussions should be limited as much as possible for a few reasons.

 I have ADD. I  know this not from diagnosis but from personal observation of my lack of concentration when there are too many things that crowd the mind.

Exceptionally long posts are where I find a lack of concentration to absorb whatever point the poster is trying to make.

But the worst offender, to me, is what I would term run on paragraphs. Similar to a run on sentence but are comprised of many sentences without breaking into
more easily read paragraphs.

If we were writing legal papers and briefs, many of the posts on here would be tossed out by a judge because it is just too difficult to read with ease and the concept of said paragraph, written singularly, is often lost in the endeavor to follow along.

For example.... sorry Red for using you in this one,

While this is not long, if it were written the following way, I , personally, would find it easier to read and understand. Considering that there are actually 3 differing subject ideas in this paragraph.

This forum should be handled like television. If you see something you don't like or want to read, change channels or threads. There is no final exam.

Besides it's hard enough keeping the troll pestilence under control without counting sentences.

Plus having a built-in nit wit filter helps.

Like RB says - depends on the subject matter as to whether I'll read a long post or not. Most of the time, I read the first sentence or two, and if it doesn't entice me to read more - I won't.

However, I have been known to write excessively long posts, but I don't blame anyone for not wanting to wade through them.

adds to it only  copying  some one else with it.......... so the post ends up being way longer

then need be.......  what a waste of time  !

Actually, I was more or less saying, that I have no problem with what grams is saying~and yes, she like me will forget things if we both keep living. Now, you can use your time better, by objecting to things of more important than this.
