Got the job!!! MAJOR breakthrough!

Job/technical interview was on the tough side (for me) last week and I was a little iffy in thinking how well I did overall, but I got and signed an offer letter yesterday for it! They've been saying that they're very excited to have me! And their offer is absolutely amazing, especially considering the location. They asked me about my salary expectation and I gave a fairly wide range, but their offer out of the blue was actually a LOT higher than the upper range of what I'd asked with all kinds of other benefits (medical and such) and stock options. There's talk about a sign-on bonus and (as expected) they're going to give me a great deal of financial help for relocation costs (more like a reimbursement as it'll show up in my first paycheck).

This is fantastic and I'm overwhelmed. The technology that I'll be working with is excellent for skill growth - cutting-edge Microsoft stack technologies. The salary is REALLY high already, much higher than anything I'd seen on Indeed or other postings as far as Junior or especially entry-level stuff. And it's a good thing, as I have some really ugly debts to deal with after all the school school school. 

But things lined up just right in my favor, from what I can tell. I had a glowing letter of recommendation from my MS degree from my graduate advisor, who is also the reason why I'm officially published (based on my thesis work). There was the grueling start-up I endured for a year that was sub-minimum wage, and other things I worked to learn on my own and a back-end web project I did for a local business (also very, very little pay). And this year I turned out not to be able to file for unemployment.

I'm also REALLY excited about the location! I'd always hoped to see what a "bible belt" state was like after being kind of stuck in this city for such a long time (and it's abysmal job market). Everything looks just great. Of course I'm eager to work very hard and focused to make sure everyone is happy. Right now I'm dealing with some details, just submitted an application for an apartment down there (5 minutes' walk from work!) that I'm praying goes smoothly. I'm supposed to start in 3 and a half weeks, though they say they're flexible and to let them know when to schedule my flight.

So excited! 

I remember the night before they called me very well, because I frustration/depression could get the best of me especially since I had a lot of ways I could work (never sure when any work I'd do independently would lead to anything). I'd study programming on my own, practice my violin, do projects, and such, as well as see applications with long lists of skills required. I'll never forget how many so-called "entry level" postings demanded several years' experience in a very particular technology within programming - i.e. I know of no school that would make THAT much of a tight focus on a single subject to such an expert level over the course of years. I just thought of Jesus though, and how the Lord has power over all the world and my only real "job" on the Earth is to obey him and keep his commandments. That was true before and it's true now, and always will be. I love the Lord.

Cally, I'm truly very happy for you, and expected nothing less than what you have gotten, because of your love for truth. I live on the bible belt's buckle just thirteen miles from Greenville, S.C. which is considered the main hub of the bible belt. So, how close are you coming? PM me if you would.
