The Barbarian

I never told you how I love the way
you smile, and sleepy turn your head to me
weekend mornings when I hold you close
my arms around you keep you next to me.

Bold affection makes you blush and grin.
Strong innocence and sweetness took me so.
Abide in you, though we have been through times
lesser women would have lost it long ago.

Although the great things you've done count for much
and great things I've been given, it is true,
a million tiny bits of love like these
make up the bonds that hold me fast to you.

That's beautiful, Barbarian, and kind of reminds me of this song that I haven't heard in years-

Wow, that is an old one.   Looking at the lyrics, I feel like a plagiarist.

My memories of Ed Ames are in his role as Mingo, the Cherokee pal of Daniel Boone.   And of his throwing hatchet demo on the Tonight Show.

Just googled to see when he passed, but he's still alive! He's 90. I also assumed he was Native American because of his role in Daniel Boone, but he's Jewish. Live and learn.
