Curioser and curioser.
Another interesting point.... I have JUST run into. (yet again before my morning coffee.)
There are more then 1 version of the Geneva Bible: AND THEY CHANGE. https://www.studylight.org/commentaries/gsb.htmlIn Acts 12:4 of the Geneva study bible WITH side notes of 1569... we have Easter.
3 And when he had apprehended him, he put [him] in prison, and delivered [him] to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.
( side notes (3) The tyrants and wicked make a gallows for themselves even then when they do most according to their own will and fantasy.
but in the interlinear Geneva bible of 1560...9 years earlier... we have ,when it was first printed.
And when he had caught him, he put him in prison, and deliuered him to foure quaternions of souldiers to be kept, intending after the Passeouer to bring him foorth to the people.
So enters the question.... why? Why print Passover in 1560 and Easter in 1569?
The 1569 Geneva was under Queen Mary. This Bible was made during the reign of Queen Mary I (England). It was one of the Bibles brought to America on the Mayflower and it was used by famous people such as Shakespeare, Oliver Cromwell and John Milton.
This Bible was printed under the leadership of John Calvin.
