Jesus said God is a Spirit and to worship Him we must worship Him in Spirit.  Paul states in Galatians 3:28 that once we are saved/born anew, in God's eyes we are neither male nor female.  In heaven we will not have our earthly (male/female) bodies, but our celestial bodies.  Paul discusses this as well.  Spiritual beings (which is what we will be in Heaven have no need for male/female bodies.  These bodies (earthly shells) were given to us by God for the purpose of housing our Spiritual being and for procreation.

Adding John 4:24 and mixing a wee bit of Galatians 3:28 and misapplying both does not prove your point.

The Scriptures are fairly cear that we will all be the Sons of God.  Just saying.
::smile::
There are other scriptures as well, but you can believe or not as you wish, God bless.

As to being "as the angels of heaven," that doesn't necessarily mean that angels don't have gender.

There are several OT passages that would seem to indicate that angels do have a gender.

That would present (IMO) a problem with us being the SONS of God would it not?  I don't see this as a burning issue with regards to salvaion, just my thoughts and how I read the Bible.  If we are all "heirs" and "sons" of God, then it is hard to see how there would be gender differences.  Shoot, it's fine with me if  I get to Heaven and my Mamaw is right there just as she was here on earth, but the way I read the Scriptures, this isn't how it will be.  Yes, we will "know" each other, but to me, this referres to our "essence", our spirit, not our earthly forms.

Well I'm a female and by God's grace I know I will be in heaven as will many other women even though this scripture says otherwise;
Rev 8:1 And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour.  ::smile::

But, I have no doubt you will be there too!  However, since you ARE a woman, how do you see the Scriptures that talk about this?
(don't have to get into it iff'in ya don't want, just wondering)  Especially as we are called "the sons of God."

I don't see your trouble.  Galatians 3:26 says we are sons of God in Christ Jesus right now through faith.  That includes women.

Galatians 3 isn't pointing to the future, but the here and now!  Both men and women, new and gentile are one in Jesus.

It's wonderful to read self-deprecating jokes coming from the distaff side. It's very rare nowadays.

In the Old Testament could you be a bit more specific?

Often the articles referring to the "Messengers" or Melekh/Melakh/Meleheme are neuter and simply granted a sex instead of one being actually given by scripture.

At other times the messenger is just a man acting on behalf of the Lord...as in a seer or prophet.

And at other times it is THE Angel of the Lord...which is going to be some kind of manifestation of God himself. (but that is a whole nother debate in itself)

Soooo

If you could pick out some passages that would be great.

Sorry for the three transliterations of the word for messenger...one is actually the word for King but the word "king" shares it's plural with the plural for " mesenger"

Right. Males for sure, that are attracted to human women.

And we don't have to be married.....I don't know if this is wrong for me to feel but I like that idea. weew!

Lively Stone

There will be gender in heaven. Women will be glorified women and men will be glorified men. There wont be any sex in heaven, however, and that is what Jesus was referring to when He said we would be as the angels. We will have no reason for the act of marriage, and there will be no provision for it. No male or female genitalia, and therefore no procreation.

As a woman I will be perfectly who I was created to be. We will be as we were meant to be in the garden---men and women who work perfectly well together, shoulder to shoulder performing the will of God.

------------------------------------------------------

If this is so, then how will we be male and female???

The reason for God creating us male and female was for the purpose of procreation.  Since there will be no procration in Heaven, why would we be male and female eunics?

Wycliffes_Shillelagh

Actually, the description of the angels in Ezekiel contains a euphemism that the Jews used to refer to genitalia.

And with two wings they "covered their feet."  "Covered feet" was a Jewish euphemism denoting genitals.

Jarrod

Not quite. That euphemism referred to bowel movements. See "Saul in the "cave" at En Gehdi"

You think our private parts are the only indicators of who we are? Along with our gender comes beautiful nuances in character traits and personality. When we are perfected, our personalities will be completely whole and without flaw. Our essence of who we are now will be complete.

Who I am---a woman of God, known by a new name---is not going to change, but my essence will be perfected.

A soul has no gender.

As the soul is the mind and personality of a person, I beg to differ. When I see the Kingdom, I will be the woman I am, yet I will be perfected in my femininity---no weaknesses and all strengths, just like Jesus. The same goes for all men of God---they will bear the character and personality of themselves in the masculine, but perfect---no weaknesses and all strengths.

Praise God for His marvelous creation!

If indeed, there is gender in heaven, it would seem logical that our glorified bodies could have genitalia? Evidently, there is no sexual function in glory, so if we have genitalia, would it be for the purpose of urinary function? Also, what about bowel function?
I just can't foresee the perfection of the glorified body within the heavenly realm marred by the uncleanness of human waste. (I hope I don't wind up as a sanitation engineer) ::cryingtears::
Any thoughts on this?

WILL WE BE MALE OR FEMALE?

"Some people try to prove there will be no gender in Heaven by citing Paul's statement that in Christ there is neither "male nor female" (Galatians 3:28). But Paul refers to something that's already true on Earth; the equality of men and women in Christ. The issue isn't obliteration of sexuality (you don't lose your gender at conversion).

Was Jesus genderless after His resurrection? Of course not. No one mistook him for a woman---or as androgynous. He's referred to with male pronouns.

We'll never be genderless because human bodies are not genderless. The point of the resurrection is that we will have real human bodies essentially linked to our original ones. Gender is a God-created aspect of humanity...

WILL WE MAINTAIN OUR OWN IDENTITIES?

You will be you in Heaven. Who else would you be? If bob, a man on Earth is no longer Bob when he gets to heaven, then, in fact, Bob did not go to Heaven. If when I arrive in Heaven I'm not the same person with the same identity, history, and memory, then I didn't go to Heaven.

The resurrected Jesus did not become someone else; he remained who he was before the resurrection. "It is I myself!" (Luke 24:39). In John's Gospel, Jesus deals with Mary, Thomas, and Peter in very personal ways, drawing on his previous knowledge of them (John 20:10-18; 24-29;21:15-22). His knowledge and relationships from his pre-resurrected state carried over. when Thomas said, "My Lord and my God," he knew he was speaking to the same Jesus he'd followed. When John said, "It is the Lord," he meant, "It's really him---the Jesus we have known." (John 21:4-7)...

Our own personal history and identity will endure from one Earth to the next. "'AS the new heavens and the new earth that I make will endure before me,' declares the Lord, 'so will your name and descendants endure'" (Isaiah 66:22).

Of course Angels have gender but does gender mean that they have reproductive organs. I do not think so it is clear that there is no need for reproduction in heaven. Jesus said there will be no giving and taking in marriage in heaven.

Can I ask you a stupid question, when was the last time you read the scriptures? I don't even have a book at my disposal to know what is in it. It's in the beginning of the book so maybe you just forgot?

There is a reason why the scriptures are written, it is for us to remember what has been written. My man has a saying, a stupid man remembers, a smart one writes it down.

Bitter Sweet

I like to use the definition of soul that the bible provides. The soul is what God keeps, not our genders.

Matthew 10:28 Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

The soul of man (psuche) is the center of the mind, will and emotions. The personality resides there as well. Paul understood the difference between soul and spirit (pneuma).

1 Thessalonians 5:23
Now may the God of peace make you holy in every way, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again.
