Hi there,

I notice that  JW, Mormon, and 'Christian' Universallism forums have been added - these groups are not christians so why are they added to a christian forum?

Are we going to have a Muslim and Hindu forum next?

Sinead,

Christianity in the modern age encompasses a very wide variety of beliefs. As long as these sects identify themselves as Christian and are open to peaceful dialogue they are accepted here. Your personal views on JW's, Mormon's and Universalists are irrelevant to how these people identify themselves.

JW's believe that they serve Jesus Christ but they do not believe He is God. He is the means of communion with God but He Himself is not worshiped as God. No Trinity for them. I attended Kingdom Hall for about month a few years back to study the JW faith.

Mormons very much believe in Jesus Christ and claim to follow Him. They genuinely believe that they are followers of Christ. Heavenly Father is at the heart of their passion and under the leadership of a man they revere as God's chosen prophet and successor of the Apostles they attempt to lead Godly lives and spread the Gospel, as they believe it, throughout the world. I bunked with two Mormons when I was at basic training in Fort Sill, Oklahoma

Christian Universalists believe in the power of Jesus Christ and that salvation springs forth solely from the merits of Calvary and the grace of God. They just believe that salvation is spread wide upon all men regardless of any hindrances. They believe in monergism meaning they believe God alone carries out the act of salvation and regeneration and that His discretion in this act is not limited to only those who chose Him just as His love is not limited to those who choose to love Him. He redeems all of mankind.

I'm a Catholic so I obviously disagree with tenets of all of the above sects but they are in fact identified as Christian and we respect that profession. I ask that, in spite of your disagreements, you respect that profession as well.

JWs believe a false gospel as do Mormons and the universalists. NONE of these groups are christian groups, I dont care what they call themselves.

Mormons claim to visit with the dead. Joseph Smith was decieved by demonic spirits one in particular a demon "moroni" They go by the book of mormon, not the Bible. They believe that God had sex with Mary and Mary concieved Jesus. They even believe that Satan and Jesus are brothers!

Universalists have witches, homosexuals and just about every false religion in preaching in their church, they believe you can be any religion and still be saved because God is going to save us all. This is FALSE.

I wont even get started on what the JW's beleive, who has that kind of time?

Sinead,

I don't think you understand. This site does not operate based on what you do and/or do not care about. Fact of the matter is that all of these identify themselves a Christian. Admin nor we Moderators self appoint ourselves as judges of the validity of their claim. Their profession and genuine sincerity is enough for us to welcome them to this community and give them a sub-forum.

You can voice your complaints with their doctrines in the appropriate sub-forums.

Bitter Sweet

I think this is the best Christian message board around. I don't think our religions makes us who we are but we make what our religion is.

James 1:27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

Hebrews 12:14 Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.

Thank you Bittersweet however this is not a debate forum so I implore you to draw back from any attempts to spark anything of the sort.

*sighs* All I can say is - is there anyone who believes in the true gospel anymore?
When Jesus said that in the last days even the elect would be decieved - I can see what He means.  ::frown::

Sinead,

Now was that necessary? I think I have adequately shown how I do not agree with the above groups. Just because this site respects the profession of those who identify themselves as Christian does not mean we all agree on the same thing. At this point I thought that would be obvious.

Come on now? I think way better of you than that.

I do see your point sinead. just because these sects call themsleves Christians that doesnt mean they are, and we are not supposed to live in peace with those in these sects because they are in serious error and need saving as much as any non believer does. Maybe by coming here they may be saved?

Just curious, lighthammer, but would some all-gay sect that identified itself as Christian recieve a forum? Where do you draw the line?

I figured that the owner of the website dictates its rules. That was a rhetorical question.

I am excited to have non Christians to interact with. I am keen on hearing from Muslims as to, Where was Allah at the time of Creation since Islam only came into existence in the 7Th
Century and all of Islams knowledge of time before the 7Th century had to be gleaned from the Bible and the Torah?

If you want to interact with the unsaved - theres plenty of them in the world. Plenty of mosques too if muslims are who you want to talk to. This however is a christian forum meant for christians to fellowship with one another.

cmorod

It is unrealistic to go into a Mosque and expect a Muslim to listen to Christian ideas.
If non Christians are logging on to our forum it must mean they are searching for answers. As Christians we must then share the Amazing Grace of God thus obeying the call of Christ to be Salt and Light.

Merryone

We don't need any non-Christian forums added here. We have plenty of unbelievers interacting with us already in any number of forums already provided.

That's a nice thought but unfortunately the only reason most unsaved come here is to cause trouble. We have enough of that here already.

DaveW

While I appreciate the sentiment from Sinead and others on maintaining the purity of christian discussion, that can easily go too far.  If you want an example, look at a site called Preacher Files, it is run by hardline Church of Christ leaders and if anyone even asks a question that is considered out of line that person can have their URL locked from ever getting on the site again.

Where one draws the line as to how much leeway is given to various beliefs and individuals  is tricky.  To my way of thinking, that is ENTIRELY the purvue of the site owners and not us, the members.  And if we are uncomfortable with their choices we can go elsewhere.

As far as web discussion boards go, this one is somewhere in the middle, with Preacher Files on the one end and Beliefnet on the other.

Kaleel

6.1 This is a best described as a "Christian-only" message forum. However, administration reserves the right to allow members of other religions if deemed productive. To have a "Christians only" forum, we need to define who can post. Therefore, we need a set of criteria that clearly defines who a Christian is for the purposes of posting. This is not for any other reason. We are not speculating as to a person's salvation, faith or beliefs. This rule is not intended to label a member as "non-Christian".
