The thing is, we don't know who they are unless they get caught. Sexual sin is the one that is kept most secret, unlike gossipers and slanderers, these people tell on themselves but sexual predators and adulterers keep their dirty deeds under tight seals. Either they get caught or repent, no way of knowing one is sitting next to you in church if you go so chances are they are being loved.
Hence the need for the ongoing use of revelatory gifts like word of knowledge and prophecy.  To call them out publicly no matter how well they have covered their tracks.

We're rapists, pedophiles, and murderers made that way by God or do they carry out such deeds of their own free will?

DaveW

They are not made that way by God.  It is a result of the fallen nature of man and may include demonic activity.

Is God the author of sin? No. It emanates from Satan, and from the human heart itself.

Jeremiah 17:9
"The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?

Even having sex inside your head is a sin. Even if you don't "actually" do it. Whether you believe it or not.

The Erection is evil.  Even the word "Erection" is borderline close to the temptations of the inflamed and engorged genitalia.  I hope that my necessary yet careful use of the word does not lead any soul into the throes of passion and unbridled yielding to the Wicked Flesh.  Those who are serving the Erection are those whom are owned by the Darkness.  Feel me? No pun intended.

Um... No, to say so is akin to saying sex is evil, I will concede that the devil takes good and perverts it to his ends.

Excuse me a moment, I have to "talk" to my wife for a bit.   rofl

Cheers Danny, ::smile::

You have a serious misunderstanding of biblical morality. What you say here is entirely wrong.

If the erection was evil why did the OT say that one who was wounded in the stones (which impotence could be a sign of) could not even enter into the presence of the Lord?

Lavender

In reference to sin in the church, what about 1 Corinthians 5 ?

Excellent point Lavender.

I interpret that chapter to speak of the church condoning sinful behaviour, there are certainly examples of this in some modern "liberal" churches.

I suggest that those going to church are repentant, and have sought forgiveness.  They seek to be reunited with God, not to have their sin accepted but rather healed.  Fellowship with such people is indeed allowed and even encouraged IMO.

Carey, would you please clarify what you mean by 'those going to church are repentant, and have sought forgiveness'?

Hi Lavender,

Taking the extreme example of a pedophile,  if he finds himself compelled to attend a church that is very clear that such actions are sinful, and unacceptable, what is one to make of it?

I would assume that he is repentent; he regrets his behaviour; he seeks forgiveness.  To know more would be to know his mind, which I do not.  Under such circumstances IMO, I err on the side of grace.

That is not to say that we let him teach Sunday School, or put ourselves or our children at risk, such a predicament requires vigilance.

This is by no means a comfortable issue for me to address, my opinion is somewhat unsettled. Such a hypothetical situation certainly strains one's faith.

I am not sure this answers your question,  If you would like further clarification, please ask.  My motivation is not  from a need to change the opinion of another, but rather to clarify the issue for myself.

I do not speak with authority, but rather as a student, I have much to learn.

God bless,
Carey.

Carey,
What a nice, humble attitude you have.  Thank you for your kind reply.  I do not agree with your reply, but you do not need my approval of what you believe.  You have every right to believe as you do about anything.  Again, thank you for clarifying what you meant.

We all have much to learn    ::amen!::

Hey Lavender,

Thank you,  unfortunately such a compliment is damaging to that attitude. ::doh:: rofl

No worries though, God is quite gracious in pointing out my shortcomings, and I have quite enough of them to maintain my composure. ::blushing::

Allow me to reciprocate; your above comments are graceful and those of one in touch with her own humility.   ::smile::

Kindest regards.
Carey.
