allways loved stryper and another good christian metal band called narnia...metal allways gets a bad rap on youtube but i reckon
very powerfull and motivational music

I am dating myself but have been a fan of <SOME> metal since the beginning. (protometal)

I liked Frigid Pink's "House of the Rising Sun" and Blue Cheer's "Summertime Blues," considered by some to be the very first metal recording.  

Others considered Iron Butterfly to be the first metal band and they were my favorite band for many years.

When Black Sabbath came out (whom I consider the first true Metal band) I became a big fan.  The first christian metal band I heard was Archangel (of Lansing MI). "Hanging Tree" has to STILL be my all time favorite christian metal song.

I never cared much for most of the 80's metal bands with the exception of Barren Cross, and that only their first album.  The title track "Rock for the King" is a great anthem.

Maybe not metal, but somewhat heavy. Thousand Foot Krutch, Skillet, Pillar. One good song, Demons by Darkest Hour. All of these bands are good and if you listen to their lyrics, you will hear a message.
