Jesus says, "... pluck it out ... cut it off ..." Mt.5

Origen of Alexandria (and others) took this quite literally, it is said.

more practically, here a short list of things you can "cut off" to help with this problem:

1.  internet habits - porn is just two clicks away

2.  movies - duh! R-rated can be over the line.

3.  music - try turning the dial to K-Love, or some other Xn station

4.  companions - find a support group of mature Christian men, not drinking buddies who ogle women.

5.  viewing women as "babes" instead of as "sisters"

6.  cable TV -- do you have "skin-e-max" and HBO?!

on a positive note, forgiveness is free.  but, God's patience is meant to lead you to change.

Job made a vow.

these are a few ideas.

What is your relationship status?
A therapist may be able to help you understand how to find a relationship that fills your needs.
Medications like statins and antidepressants and occasionally stronger meds can be used in extreme cases.

Some things that helped me.

1.  Sex is overrated.
2.  Relationships are better than sex.
3.  Women really are people and companship is far better than sex.

Women are beautiful creatures, fearfully and wonderfully made. So are men.

Hi SaintsFan,
Your post reads as if you are beating yourself to pieces over your fallen nature and sexual lust, so I thought I'd add my bit here along with others.  If you are a believer in Jesus Christ and trust him 100% for your salvation, you need to stop looking at your own failures.  Look to your position in Christ:

"Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin. There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death." (Ro 7:24-8:2 ESV)

The story of Samson seems to be of wine, women and song and it was his downfall.  Then there was Barak who seemed to be a spineless weenie who needed a woman to give him courage to go forth to battle.  Yet, we find them both listed among the faithful in Hebrews 11.

"And what more shall I say? For time would fail me to tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets— who through faith conquered kingdoms, enforced justice, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, were made strong out of weakness, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight." (Heb 11:32-34 ESV)

Keep in mind, you do not sanctify yourself, God does that through his word and he never fails.  God will keep his promise:

"Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it." (1Th 5:23-24 ESV)

You did not detail your lust, so just be sure you are understanding what the Bible condemns, not what some self-righteous folks may be imposing upon you.

??

what brought that on?

yes, we do need to understand what the Bible condemns.  in this day and age it seems that there is a great deal of confusion about that!

I will double-check, but I did not notice any "un-Biblical impositions" in the post?!  perhaps it was just some generic reference to things seen along the way in the Glenn63's pilgrimage?  oh well.

I really think we need to examine the sexual-saturation of our society.  Have you seen the latest Hardee's hamburger commercial?!

I would look for a fellow male believer that can keep you accountable and encourage you when you fail.
