Why does my ip address keep changing here? I am not doing it on purpose . I'm pretty sure I have been using the same computer since I have been back. I am not trying to be tricky with it. Is there a rule against this? I am still using the same user name.

Most of our regular members use several IP addresses. It comes from your access point into the internet and not from your computer.

Your Cell Phone will use a different IP address than your computer will use. Starbucks or McDonalds or even the Public Library will all use different IP addresses. Even if your computer is the same or your cell phone uses the wi fi at these locations.

Isnt that because you use it at different locations? If we are using the computer at the same place it should stay the same surely.

BY the way bittersweet this had nothing to do with moderation, not sure who told you that.

I am just sitting at my kitchen table, sometimes I do tether my phone to other devices when I am out but not to post on message boards. But this is a new laptop my husband gave me, I don't think my other one did this. I always had the same ip unless I was posting while on vacation.

The message was on my profile page and it didn't give me any points, but I didn't understand if this was a problem or not. It was worth someones time to mention but it was 0 moderation points. At first I thought it did give me points then I looked back and saw there weren't any.

I think it's just wavering back between 2 different ones. We may have a new router, I can't remember when we got this new one.

Check with your Internet Service Provider and ask if they assign you a static IP address (does not change), or if it is dynamic, or ever-changing.
