There are 8 NT passages which give long lists of ...
examples of deadly habitual sins that will keep Christians out of heaven.

Christians are provided with warnings, and those who are
committing these sins habitually are called "unrighteous" (1 Cor 6:9)

Christians habitually doing these sins will NOT inherit the kingdom of God:
1 Cor 6:9-10
Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God?
Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals,
nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners
will inherit the kingdom of God.
Gal 5:19-21
Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness,
lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish
ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like;
of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past,
that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Eph 5:3-6
But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you,
as is fitting for saints; neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are
not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person,
nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.
Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God
comes upon the sons of disobedience.

Christians habitually doing these sins will NOT enter the New Jerusalem:
Rev 21:27
But there shall by no means enter it (the New Jerusalem, v.10) anything that defiles,
or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb's Book of Life.
Rev 22:14-15
Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life,
and may enter through the gates into the city. But outside are dogs and sorcerers and
sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.

Christians habitually doing these sins will incur the wrath of God:
Col 3:5-6
Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth:
fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.
Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience ...

Christians habitually doing these things are deserving of death:
Rom 1:29-32
... being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness,
maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers,
backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to
parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; who, knowing the
righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death ...

Christians habitually doing these sins will go into the lake of fire:
Rev 21:7-8
He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.
But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers,
idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone,
which is the second death.

If any Christian is in a state of unrepented-of habitual sin at his death, he will miss heaven.

Let us DAILY keep our sins under the most precious covering of Jesus' blood ...

1 John 1:
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

All of these sins can be forgiven, and of course we all sin. We would all be doomed if it wasn't for Jesus.

MeMyself

Yep. If not for Jesus, we'd have no hope!

There is not ONE person who can't fall into at least one of those deadly sins...

Pride alone wipes out all of us!

People who habitually do all the things you listed are not Christians.  (Matthew 7:15-20)

There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ.  (Romans 8:1)

We all sin, but when we confess our sins we are forgiven.  (1 John 1:9-10)

Very true indeed.

Ben

Great reminders that God's children are safe in Him.

1. The "unrighteous" will not inherit eternal life.  God has imputed His righteousness to His children so we are as righteous as possible.

2. Our names are written in the Lamb's Book of Life, those that are not will see condemnation.

3. The "son's of disobedience" are those spoken of in this passage.  We are sons (and daughters) of God not disobedience.

4. "Filled with unrighteousness."  We are filled with God's righteousness. See Romans 4.

5. He who "overcomes" will not see the lake of fire.  We have overcome the world by His blood.

This is especially true of the divorced Christian.  Someone once said (jokingly) that a Christian would be better off murdering is wife instead of divorcing her because the church forgives murderers.

An appeal to rationality ::help::

Jesus flat out says in Rev 21:7-8
He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.
But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers,
idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone,

Maybe we can all agree that Jesus is NOT talking about:
-- lying once in a lifetime
-- lying occasionally, but properly repenting of it

I am saying that Jesus is referring to ...
absolutely everyone who lies habitually without proper repentance!

IMO, proper repentance is the result of one (or both) of these:
-- the Holy Spirit convicting a person
-- a person's conscience

IMO, proper repentance results in a person doing a sin less and less (until it is overcome).
And there are a lot of Scripturse about the necessity to be an overcomer.

Now, what are the problems with the above?

The problem I have with the above is that if you lie (even once) you are a liar.

Sins are not big and unacceptable to God , or small and winked at by God.

ALL sin, big or small is horrible and unacceptable to God.

We ALL fall short in one way or another...and no matter how WE measure it, God doesn't measure it the same.

That's why we need Christ!

He put sin into perspective for us, by saying its not just the action of sin, but the sin in our hearts and thought lives that make us murderers or adulterers.

No one is good enough, enough of an overcommer, though we try hard, remember we fall short of God's glory...and we need the righteousness of Christ to make us acceptable to God.

Aaaah, no wise, no rational ... oh, well.
Now that all the usual goof-balls have had their say, what about the rest of you?

Ben

Sins that are deadly to Christians?  Here is a list I compiled from your original post:

These people are: unrighteous, fornicators, idolaters, adulterers, homosexuals, sodomites, thieves, covetous, drunkards, revilers, extortioners. They are unclean, they are lewd, they practice idolatry and sorcery, they are filled with hatred, are contentions, are jealous, have outbursts of wrath, are selfish, have illicit ambitions, create dissensions, invent heresies, are envious, are murders, participate in revelries, are backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful, are sorcerers, idolaters, and are liars, but they are Christians?   CHRISTIANS?   rofl

Maybe  this kind of people are considered Christians in your baileywick but not in my 40 years as a born again Christian have I EVER heard someone who routinely does these things be called a Christian.

Give me a break.

We divide the Gospel into different views and interpretations. False teachings came about this. Yet, are we to call ourselves Christians as well?

Committing sins is not the only thing(s) that hinders the Christian community.

However, Paul was addressing Christians as it is scripturally stated. My only point.

We all sin, but when we confess our sins we are forgiven.  (1 John 1:9-10)

Not Christians?

Well, in the 1 Corinthians passage, the audience were Christians. The church in Corinth was problematic.

Just because people sit in church does not make them Christians

We divide the Gospel into different views and interpretations. False teachings came about this. Yet, are we to call ourselves Christians as well?

Committing sins is not the only thing(s) that hinders the Christian community.

Ok...

That still doesn't change the fact that just because people sit in church does not make them Christians

Agree within that context.

However, Paul was addressing Christians as it is scripturally stated. My only point.

No, he was addressing the church...and just because people sit in church does not make them Christians

The people are the church. Unless we want to ne short-sighted and only want to see the physical building.

LOL...Ok, you are right.  Always are...

On second thought...

Our Pastor calls us "Church" and he has had someone paint over the doors "The Church has left the building", but even HE would tell you that does not mean every person IS a Christian.

The assumption in Paul's letters is that he is writing to Christians, not pretenders.
