I was thinking I wonder if being a "Fanboy" of a video game, movie, or product (like apple products) is a sin?

"1 John 2:15: Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him."

any thoughts?

That verse is not talking about video games, or any other interest we may have.  Here is the verse in context:

Quote from: 2 John215 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. 16 For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. 17 The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.

The word "lust" is from the greek word, Epithumia, which means, "desire, craving, longing, desire for what is forbidden, lust."

Furthermore, one of the definitions of Kosmos is "the whole circle of earthly goods, endowments riches, advantages, pleasures, etc, which although hollow and frail and fleeting, stir desire, seduce from God and are obstacles to the cause of Christ"

So the verse in question is not warning us away from interests or hobbies, but rather, desiring the forbidden things that will seduce us away from God and become an obstacle to the cause of Christ.

Hope that helps!

So unless it becomes idolatry it's fine to be a fanboy, right?
