SwordMaster

I logged on today (1/21/2014) and found I had been given a warning, the statement is as follows:

QuoteSwordMaster,

The links in your signature are not allowed by Christian Forums and Message Board Rules. Please remove the links immediately.

Click here to read all of the Forum Rules.

Regards,
The Christian Forums and Message Board Team.

The link was this:

http://newcovenantunderstanding.wordpress.com/

I searched the forum rules and see nothing there addressing my link...unless it is someones personal bias that caused them to address this. If not, can someone please tell me why it should not be allowed?

thank you.

Nevertheless

Links in posts are treated differently than links in signatures. Here is the applicable rule:

Quote3.4 External links, website addresses, domain names or email addresses in your signature, avatar, or custom user title will be heavily moderated. If you have a link in your signature, a return link to Grace-Centered Message Forums MUST be on the site you are linking to. ANY EXTERNAL LINK IN YOUR SIGNATURE MUST BE NO GREATER THAN 2 POINTS IN TEXT SIZE. You may not add code to your signature that shows a poster their computer's IP address.

I believe the problem with having that link in your signature is that there is no return link to this forum.

AH...thank you! I don't know how to put a link in it back to here, so I guess I won't add it to my signature....but why a "Warning!"

Why not just tell me that I needed to take it off and why?

That was an honest mistake, I did not catch that in the rules...and the person who "dinged" me didn't even tell me where to find it.

Thanks again.

Nevertheless

Why a "warning"? Mainly because that's how we've been told to do it.

One reason is that newbies have a very limited number of PMs that they can receive, so if their box is full, the message won't get through, but a warning always goes through. All similar infractions are handled the same, so there is no favoritism. Also, it is much simpler and easier to issue a warning because there are templates to use.

I'm sorry the warning was unclear about which rule applied. I'll see if I can modify the template to fix that.
