Hi guys, I don't know if the topic was mentioned before, I didn't manage to find it. I want to ask you about some parental control methods over my kids' computer. Is there any easy to use software or some settings in windows 7 that will allow me to control my kids during using the internet?

Thanks for any help in advance !

Davy

If you want to control their computer you can just place it in the living room :) But if you really need some software I'd recommend you K9 or PCWebControl.  ::tippinghat::

I agree. Never let them use their computers in their rooms, and make them leave their phones down stairs at bedtime.

Just search their internet history.  You can adjust the settings so that they are unable to delete it.

That is where ours in..right out in the middle of everything for everyone to see.

Also, no smart phones until they are adults and ready to pay for them on their own.

Phones regardless get checked in at 10:00 p.m. :)

LOL!  Spanking young adults who are often taller and/or stronger than their parents..what a funny mental picture.

But, a sobering one too.  If people are spanking their almost adult kids...yikes! Talk about provoking them to anger and embitterment.

I think that in today's age every parent faces what I call this electronic nightmare.

I am an IT professional and I work with computers all day long, have several at home, along with tablets, phones, and many other electronic devices.

Electronic devices have helped us communicate with others (social media), however excessive use renders us useless eye-to-eye contact. I agree, limiting electronic usage is important.

There are many tools online (lol). The joke being use electronic gear to search for an answer on excessive electronic use. Ok, so some jokes I just do for myself.

I like the ideas of having the computers in a family room where others can see. This can help you keep a handle on what is going on with the computer.

I will probably do some configuration of the router when my children get older.

Taking their phones away every single night (and hiding them from the little sneaky ones who will creep into your room to get them during the night) is a must.
It's so difficult to stay ahead of them on the control issue. Whenever a new parental control software hits the market, it's not long until there's someone on youtube telling the kids/teens how to circumvent it. It's a never ending battle.
