I'm new to this thingy, but I really wanted to find a forum of some sort where Christian's were involved.
I really wanted to get it out that I can't seem to like where the church is going, because it makes me really sad and heart-broken. Why is there all of this "Christian" commercialism and fads going about? I once went to this one church that had rock-and-roll music presented as worship to God with smoke machines and all of these bright lights. People dressed skimpy, teens my age (who have no business dating) are dating everything that breaths in the youth ministry! The pastor would get up there and do this hipster thing with her hand (the wrist-rotation thing) and say "HOLLA FO JESUS!" (I feel bad for using His name in this tone)
It's not just that church, I've been to many others. One church that my friend invited me to, I spoke up along a conversation and asked if anyone knew that they were saved and why. Some said "yes" and gave a quote from the bible, but the overwhelming majority said "I don't know."  ::eek:: I will be blunt, I don't believe that if a youth pastor can even take care and lead his own ministry to help know who Jesus is should even be a pastor, because in my experience it means that they don't care about their walk with God.
Thanks for at least reading this far! But I still have so much to say, but I'd hate to cram any more into this forum thingy...
  Except maybe a little more!
It's really hard to explain what I feel, but basically I'm so  ::frustrated:: and  ::doh:: and ??? and kind of ::cryingtears::
Can you relate? Like all you want is just Christ and to belong to him and be surrounded by his children, but, couldn't? This world feels so empty.  ::help::

Hi

it's not easy to find a good church. just the way it is, sadly.

Where I live in the UK there are probably a LOT less church goers than in the USA, but there are loads and loads of good churches filled with Gods children who love him and serve Him. I just cant believe that there arent any there. Try more until you find one you feel is right for you, God doesn't want us to be apart from the body of Christ, or isolated. He tells us that in the Bible. Its not good for us at all. Try several different denominations. Look at the churches on line and read what they say before you go. We may be moving soon, and I have already found 4 churches in the new area that look promising.

I understand. The world is changing so very fast & what you're witnessing is fulfillment of Biblical prophecy. I truly wish I could offer you better words of encouragement.

But, what I will do is pray that God will send to you, lead you to those you can have strong sound Christian fellowship because we all need it.

I also ask that everyone who reads this please pray about it too.

Also if you just need someone to talk to, you can talk to me (though I'm old folk -geezer). I'm sure there are plenty of others here who would be happy to share their time as well. Probably several who are closer to your age. ::smile::

Greetings TrueBlu, & welcome. You've come to the right place.
I too will pray for you.

God bless

Thanks, TonkaTim! ::smile:: Yeah, I really do think that we may be coming up to the last times here. I used to be really nervous of it, but not so much because i think it would be awesome to be with God!

Hello TrueBlu, and welcome to Grace Centered.
Don't beat yourself up for not finding a church home yet. It was over 20 years before God put me where He wanted me. IT seemed to me that I'd have given up part of that the Lord gave me when I was saved if I joined any of the places I visited. Remember, His timing is perfect, and you'll know when you visit the place He wants you. Just don't get discouraged and let Satan rob you of even one speck of joy while you are on your journey.
Hope you enjoy your time here, and continued blessings.

I went to Lutheran school during grade school and was raised in the Lutheran Church. They have a very traditional service and you can almost set your watch by what goes on during the service. Over the years I got out of the habit of going to church, and it got to the point I hadn't been to church in several years.

A guy I know recently got saved and I told him I'd like to go to church with him the following Sunday. It was held in an old theater and the sermon was broadcast from another location onto the screen, to it ,and a number of other churches in what I suppose was a "mini-mega" church conglomeration.

They had a rock band too, and the sermon was about how to manage your finances. I was used to the old time singing of traditional hymns, and have never had a credit card in my life, so handling my finances wasn't a problem for me. I went a total of 3 times with him and the sermon was a continuation along the same theme each time. Really nothing much about Jesus or the Christian faith.

They were all praising God in their own way, made me feel welcome and said they hoped I'd come again, but I'm old school and  It just wasn't my idea of a church service.

I went to church last Saturday with my sister and her husband. It was much more the traditional service I was used to, with a very small congregation of maybe 25 people. I plan to go again but am still not sure if I've found my "home" church or not. There is another I've been meaning to check out for some time, but may end up going back to the Lutheran Church.

I do feel like God is calling me back to church, so I know I need to start going on a more regular basis than I have been while I have the chance.

Hi TrueBlu: i completely get where youre coming from.  I agree that some churches have gone way off the path with the whole money thing but what we need to remember is there are a lot of people who need to hear that message.  I believe the Lord has given us all different kinds of churches because He has all different kinds of Christians.  We cant all be hands, or feet, or heads which means we cant have churches that are all hands, or feet, or heads.  because we are all different and learn differently the Holy Spirit will use all different kinds of ways to teach us.  Hence, all the different teaching styles and church denominations.  I and my husband need a very Spirit filled charismatic church to be Spiritually fed.  My brother, on the other hand, is Spiritually fed in a very structured, traditional, episcopalian church.  Follow what the Spirit is telling you.  He is faithful to bring you to the place that you need so He can feed you.  i hope this has helped you.  Have  a blessed night!
