There is an article about PaulVI on the Catholic Herald web site headed: The first pope accused of being a Marxist

Two of Paul VI's greatest passions were ecumenism and evangelisation, endeavours which have become major enterprises of the Church today. He had fruitful meetings with the Eastern Orthodox and spoke of Protestants as "separated brothers and sisters", and began formal dialogues with Anglicans and other Christian denominations. The accomplishments of those endeavours are many. For instance, it is highly unlikely that the ordinariate would exist had Paul VI not begun a dialogue with Anglicans. He took the name Paul because he wanted to follow in the footsteps of St Paul and take the Gospel to the world, which led to him travelling to more foreign countries than any of his predecessors. His exhortation Evangelium Nuntiandi (1975) called the Church to a new evangelisation, a call all the subsequent pontiffs have eagerly embraced.

Paul VI also had a great interest in how the Church should engage the modern world, the relationship between evangelisation and dialogue (see his 1964 encyclical Ecclesiam Suam), as well as social justice issues, as evidenced in such key documents as Populorum Progressio (1967) and Octogesima Adveniens (1971). Indeed his passion for social justice was so great he was accused by some of being a Marxist.

Yes , Winsome , I read the article with its amusing title .  ::smile::

Born Giovanni Battista Montini, Paul VI is affectionately known as the pilgrim pope. The Church that we know today is deeply shaped by the Second Vatican Council and is in many ways a reflection of Paul VI's pontificate.

Blessed Paul VI is now among the blessed in glory .

He is held up as an example of a great Christian that we may be inspired by his dedication to Jesus .

We can benefit by seeking his intercession for us before the throne of God .
