Just earlier this morning, it looked like the GraceCentered site was suspended. ???

I'm glad to see it up again. Is everything okay?

I figured it was curtains time for the forum.

I think that has happened before hasn't it? Or similar anyway. Just a glitch.

Probably just a glitch but who is fixing the glitches? We're on our own over here but I suppose if the glitch was at the hosting end it would be fixed by the owners of that particular site.

Yes. For His own reasons, God keeps this site going:-)

I've considered us on borrowed time for several months.

I had that this AM also.

Glad it is back.

I hope some of you mods actually have emails for all of  the regular posters here, just in case it truly does go away
at some point. ::headscratch::

I seem to be addicted. Not sure that is all that good but I cannot seem to stay away.  rofl

If I understand WhoIs correctly, the domain name expires on May 1, 2019.  So there's that.

I don't use any other Christian forums, does anyone else frequent other sites?

I used to post on a couple of other Christian forums, but not anymore. It's been a few years. Not long ago, I checked on both the other forums and they still show my account - but no activity. Didn't bother logging in. One Christian forum is plenty for me.

As for other sites I frequent-

Pinterest account - For art, travel, home and garden things

Twitter account #1 - For art, travel, recipes, doggie stuff, home decor

Twitter account #2 - Strictly politics, and I mean hardcore politics.

Facebook account #1 - In my real name, for family/friends - however I cleaned off my wall and basically use it for messaging.
Haven't posted on my wall in over a year.

Facebook account #2 - Under a fake name because I use that account for certain health groups and things where I don't want my personal information spread around. Don't use it much, either. Mainly to check on health groups.

Most of my online time is spent here at GC, Twitter #2 (politics), and Pinterest when I have a certain art or home project I'm working on. Facebook could crash tonight and it wouldn't bother me a bit.

If anyone here wants to exchange usernames at Twitter or Pinterest, I'd be happy to do so by private message.  ::tippinghat::

The one I was on just prior to joining GC had to close due to lack of funds.

I have looked into others, whenever GC hits a glitch but the one or two I have checked out I just do not like the setups.

I thought the same at first.

I am currently only on GC.

My first was Biblemaster forums, but those are gone now. I am a past member on two or three others, but I no longer visit them (until this morning). One I checked out just to see the scene this morning did not allow discussions on certain topics such as Calvinism and Arminianism, Premillennialism and Amillennialism, OSAS, and others. Where's the fun in not allowing those? ::headscratch::

Most of my activity is here.  I also post at Theology Web; it's "ok."  The forum software there is a bit better, IMO.

I've joined a few other places, but immediately found them lame and never went back.

I also banter on Facebook, and occasionally contribute comments and replies to some of the posts on Daily Wire and at some of the posts in the Evangelical channel at Patheos.  Those -- Daily Wire and Patheos -- are kind of unsatisfying, because I find my comments often get deleted without explanation.

I was thrown out  ::disco:: ::clappingoverhead:: ::saint:: ::whistle:: of CARM and that gigantic one that was run by Irwin somebody for a while -- might have been called "Christian Forums," not sure.  I think there's one by that name now that is not necessarily the same one.  I also sometimes enjoyed poking the bears at the Fighting Fundies board.

I have offered to buy it from the owner and my offer is still good, but not at the price he wants~ besides he wanted to sell all other interest he has as well which I have no desire to purchase. I would not change anything and would give the moderators the same freedom and would stay free of being "too" involved running it, I just want such forums to continue.

I'm a member of another forum http://www.mountainretreatorg.net/yabbse/index.php but it's a true Reformed base center that does not allow different groups to post such as we have here, which I think (what's here) is good for many reasons. You do not learn posting to people you agree with, at least you do not learn to defend your beliefs as well which I think is good to be put to test and to test others, even among those you overall agree with, we should let those points be discussed as well.

I may have one of my grandsons at Georgia Teach build me one since he majoring in Computer Science. He just joined a Christian Sorority at Tech were in initiation they had footwashing (now you folks have got to know that in the deep south PRIMITIVE BAPTIST have a strong foothold) which I thought was very good way for a Christian base Sorority to bring in new members.

Maybe it's time to set up an alternative

The first forum I ever tried several years ago was Rapture Ready. Of course I didn't fit the mold there and was summarily banned for not agreeing with pre-trib eschatology. Then I found GC about 13 years ago.

rofl rofl rofl What did you do to earn a ban at CARM? When I was there, I was thrown in time-out on several occasions, but never banned. I usually got into trouble for "personal attacks." There's a major tattle-tail over there who has a super sensitive trigger finger on the report button.  ::sarcasm::
There was a woman there who left about the time I got there. Sure wish I knew how to contact her to ask a few questions.  ::pondering::

Something they don't put up with there is attacking or even questioning a mod's decision. Start doing that, and you're out the door.
Don't know if they're as strict about that now as they used to be since I rarely look in. That place has pretty much fizzled. I think most message boards are fizzling and going to other social media options.

I don't recall.  It's been ages -- over ten years.  It's entirely possible I gave some mod instructions as to where and how to insert some object into some opening, but I don't recall.

I have peeked back in maybe a half-dozen times to see if any familiar usernames are still bumbling around.

Things come and go in phases.  I don't know if that's part of God's "seasons," or just the vicissitudes and vagaries of human nature.  Back in the day, Christian coffeehouses were all the rage.  Most of my best memories from early in my Christian life are associated with "the Haven" in the '80s.  But like virtually all the others, despite the efforts of several of us to swim against the current, it expired.

Some of my best online friends are CARM refugees.  There's one we've lost track of, and it makes us sad.  She was a young English lady, living in NZ.  She would engage very actively in conversations for several days, then suddenly go silent for a few days to two weeks.  We invented the idea that she was secretly an MI-6 agent who often suddenly received assignments.  One time she vanished from our conversations and never returned.  We never knew her real name or address, so we had no way to check on her.  (Over the course of time, she sent little gift packages to a few of us.  I got a stuffed toy tuatara that squawks when squeezed -- very cute -- and a greeting card with a Kiwi bird that sounds when the card opens -- also cute.  She had to provide a return address in order to send it, but the address was totally fake.  She was very friendly and gregarious, but also very protective of her identity.)

That's interesting, sweet, and kind of sad. Wonder who she was? It's a good thing to protect one's identity - for more reasons than one. There was one nice lady there who was from somewhere in Great Britain. She had left the cofC and was at CARM to vent, but she did it in a mild mannered way - not hateful. She had revealed too much about her identity and location, and a couple of members contacted her home congregation and told on her and it caused a great deal of problems with her family. She left CARM over that.
Speaking of making friends there -
There was a man and another woman at CARM who lived within 30 miles of me. When we discovered how close we were, we all started meeting up for lunch from time to time, which was so fun. He passed away four years ago. I need to get back together with the lady from our little local group and see how she's doing.
