A while back, I had a pastor make a clever sex joke about Adam and Eve being naked.  It made the whole Church laugh, and it was done tastefully in the context of the bible.  However, what about the ones that are less tasteful? I'm referring to stuff innuendos like, "That's what she said" or making jokes like , "Pretty sure they'll do plenty of pounding tonight".

Doesn't it say in Proverbs "Lewdness is the sport of fools."! It takes all sorts to make a world!  It was a shattering shock to me when I left school at 15 to enter a student-engineer apprenticeship - finding myself in a mainly foul-mouthed and lewd environment. Later I read "Lady Chatterleys Lover"  - and in that book there is a brief mention of  "the Freemasonry of filth" - the common lewd/sneering attitude to "private matters" among some groups of men.  The Lord doesn't want us besmirched by such attitudes - we can't in ourselves, reach Jesus high standards of purity, holiness, and righteousness.  The big snag is "You can't walk through a pig-pen without picking up some filth - and some "mud" we wade through sticks - in our minds! (I still remember a filthy little verse from those apprenticeship days - so I got soiled!)  I note that, of late, our papers bewailed the fact that "comedians" are relying heavily on sexual innuendo as part of their routines - references to "slap-stick" comical situations seems insufficient to raise a guffaw these days, unless sexual matters are involved. We used to be able to have a good belly-laugh, rolling about in hysterics almost rofl at some comic's patter in earlier times - but what has happened to our society now?

It's part of the routine of public speakers to tell a joke to get the attention of the crowd.   I've never understood why preachers think they have to follow the same rules.

This sort of thing ought to be a matter of common sense.   A risque' type of joke should not be shared with a mixed crowd.    And, if it's too salty it should just be filed in the circular file of your mind and don't try to recall it.

I will not look with approval on anything that is vile. I hate what faithless people do; I will have no part in it. - Psalm 101:3

American society is so accustomed to vulgar language, vile insinuations and political correctness that we barely know what to say at all any more.

Words that were once acceptable can now get you fired from your job and words that were once considered to be vulgar can get a laugh in a business meeting.

The appropriate use of sex jokes depends upon the group the time and the place.   Like most social interaction it's a reflection of our time and culture.  We have wandered far from the days of anything approaching a moral or social conscience.  We have wandered far from God.

Jokes about sex are considered to be inappropriate only if its made by a man and is about a woman.

If a woman makes a sex joke about a man or if a man makes a sex joke at another man's expense it's generally acceptable.

....even in church during a sermon.....

Therefore this is what the LORD says: "If you repent, I will restore you that you may serve me; if you utter worthy, not worthless, words, you will be my spokesman. Let this people turn to you, but you must not turn to them. - Jeremiah 15:19

The operative words above are "if you repent".   I do not believe repentance will come to America until our national foolishness has been thoroughly beaten out of us by heaven.  We are being thrashed even as these words are written, but few see the hand of God in the numerous curses that have afflicted us and few of that small number understand its meaning or purpose.   There's a lot more to it than a few off color jokes, but jokes are the symptom of a terrible hubris that's infected America.  Remember that pride goes before a fall.  The collapse has already begun.  At this point the trend is irreversible.

In the 1950's God was treated with polite indifference.   Today HaShem is mocked and His followers ridiculed.   Conscience and integrity are the jokes now.   Sex is merely funny.

What shall we do?  Let the wicked be wicked still.  Let the righteous be righteous still. (Revelation 22:11)

Those who know God must get VERY serious about doing as He directs - VERY serious.

Perhaps God will hide those who love Him from the wrath that seems to visit us with greater and greater frequency.
Perhaps God will hide those who follow Him by faith and with deep conviction and integrity (in our thoughts as well as in our speech).
Perhaps God will have mercy when His wrath visits us.
Perhaps God will take a few of us by the hand and lead us through troubles ahead.

The eye of a hurricane is a quiet place in the midst of terrible destruction and violence.

May those who fear God and follow Him daily find themselves in the eye of the hurricane when it certainly comes to us.

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. - Isaiah 41:10

As long as they do not cross lines of that of four letter words and what have you. It is about not offending people. In particular Christians.

I don't know if they be sin ~ clearly distasteful and out of place disrespectful as well, depending on who they're said in front of ~ for a pastor it's a pretty stupid thing to do if it was enough to make you feel uncomfortable ```

Innuendo, is a great sense of humour - but only because it leads to sex - but that isn't what the users need, they need cleanliness, and television..  ::announcment::

Sex isn't sinful, though. It's programmed into us, it's pivotal to the first commandment issued to us by God. If you're not lusting after others in your heart, you're fine.

Bottom line here is that in America a male is not allowed to make ANY joke about women - particularly the ugly, sort hair, unmarried, pompous, gay types that populate the feminist movement.

A white male is not allowed to make ANY joke about any race other than his own - white people.....who are all to blame for any real or imagined problem in the world, but without whom western civilization as we know it would not exist.
