Joey

G'day all,

I just wanted to quickly vent about something in me that only very recently has been nagging at my mind for ages, my girlfriend.

Esta was always the girl next door. Being a childhood friend he've been inseparable and only a month older than me, she and I have always kinds walked life step-in-step with eachother. When we were 12, we started fooling around, when we were 13 we became enamoured and by 14 we had sex. By that point I felt god compelled me to stick by her and so we would have been together  for 8 years and 3 months now.

The thing is that it didn't start out great at first. Aside from our tender age, my mum is a tad conservative, and while Esta's parents are a lot more progressives, that their daughter wasn't with another Muslim lead to some friction. Now being a sexually active couple for 8 years, I feel the same compelling to marry her, which I really want to do, I've been stockpiling funds and everything.

However, I'm not sure how I can deal with the implications. The easiest way would just be go to a lawyer's office but I don't really care about the nationstate's opinion on the matter, the marriage act could be abolished tomorrow and it wouldn't affect this. It's more that though there are interfaith marriages already and we could probably do it fine, I don't want there to be those frictions in either of our families if we were to do so - and we definitely have that on both sides. There's not much chance of conversion either, Esta feels Christianity is too idolotrous and worldly for her while I have theological apprehentions of Quranic characterisations with God (plus the prospect of circumcision is terrifying and a big nope).

So I'm not quite sure how to navigate this. Once we both gradguate and get fairdinkum jobs, I hope that we can start looking into our own place and being a unit will help so much with that

Hi Joey,
God does warn us not to marry anyone who doesn't share our faith, and He wouldn't go against His word, so unless she becomes a Christian, I cant see you can marry her if you want to go Gods way. At the moment you are on very different paths.
True Christianity isn't worldly or idolatrous.
