What does a Christian do concerning immigrants, and obeying the law of the land?

This is a valid and current concern which was raised up by a poster, which is not as easy to answer as one might think. We had a church close to Washington DC which had many immigrants illegally coming in and staying, as they saw the capital of the US as a good point to strive for. We tried to help all those we could with the resources available, but there was one that I remember who had mental health issues and unbalanced mind, which was beyond our capacity to help. If we revealed him to any health or medical professional, they were duty bound to report him which would subject him to expulsion. It really was the classical 'do you reveal the Jewish refugee hiding in your cellar to the police in Nazi Germany'? What is a Christian to do in such situations?

The situation has nothing to do with anything like Jews hiding in your cellar being turned over to the Nazi's in Germany. This comparison reveals the non reality or forced fed false narrative attached to the immigration situation or debate. Our government enforcing immigration laws, is not Nazi Germans exterminating Jews.

Nor is taking in every immigrant from countries which have abusive governments or one's unable to protect their citizens, a healthy ingredient for our nation. This is not to mention that other more corrupt nations might just purposely send their more problematic populations here for us to deal with. Relieving themselves of the costs and negative effects of dealing with such, while burdening us with both, thereby effectively attacking us through means of asymmetrical warfare.

Hoping by these means to help overthrow us from within by financially breaking our nations back. Not to mention diluting our population with voters who do not, nor have ever shared the vision of the fathers of our nation. Unto the Communistic, Socialistic, or globalist elitist systems of government they prefer. As rulers of nations who do not now, nor perhaps ever shared the vision of government for the people and by the people our fathers envisioned. These tactics having already being successfully employed through mass immigrations into our nation many times over already. Placing us upon the ever increasingly dangerous precipice we are just about to fall off of.

The whore of the above prophecies uses the unelected kings or elitists of the world, and their peoples to persecute or go to war with the woman or church of Christ, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. Not authentically biblically based or inspired Christian governments of, by, and for the people. The latter are relentlessly attacked by the whore and her authoritarian lovers and or minions. Until they succeed in overthrowing government for and by the people unto true freedom and liberty, and reinstall totalitarian liberty destroying tyrannical government of and by the few living upon the backs of all. Under the moral guidance of the whore who rides this final political beast of biblical prophecy. Unto the end of earth. Come Lord Jesus.

The nation's immigration laws are not inconsistent with God's law.  Therefore, as citizens we are obligated to conduct ourselves accordingly.  I do not know if the law requires us to reveal or identify any we know to be illegal immigrants, but I am sure that it is illegal to employ illegal immigrants. Helping illegal immigrants in any way for them to avoid being identified is probably against the law.  A judge (in Michigan?) was recently charged and convicted for helping an illegal immigrant avoid ICE agents.

So whether or not we are required to identify such illegal immigrants, our emphasis should be to help them abide by the nation's laws, even if that leads to deportation.

It is.  It didn't use to be like that.  In high school and college I worked track gangs, replacing railroad ties and sometimes rail.   It was hard, dirty work, but it paid really well.   Most of the men on those gangs were Mexicans.   I'm sure the vast majority of them were not legal.   No one cared.   They were good people, the great majority of them, hard-working and grateful for the opportunity.  They liked the job, because they could earn enough in a few months to support a family in Mexico for the year.  A few Anglos applied for the jobs, but most of them didn't last very long.  Mostly young guys like me, who liked the money.

Once we quit obeying the laws, the nation drifts off into anarchy or despotism.   And we see a little of both right now.  We have to follow the laws.  Problem is, immigration laws are hurting America now.  If all the illegal immigrants went home, it would produce a recession. 

Irony is, in the 1960s, the right was interested in having more immigrant workers.   Ronald Reagan, in his farewell address, argued that anyone who was willing to come and help build America should be allowed in.

Reagan was an incurable optimist.   He believed in America and in the transforming power of the American dream.   We need more of that today.

The effects of unbridled mass illegal or legal immigration can and will inevitably be the same as that of an invasion by foreign military forces. The purpose of the latter being to take over and pillage the wealth of the nation being attacked. Many have been, and are actually using mass migration for this very purpose around the globe, and most obviously in these once United States. Nevertheless, the effect of unbridled mass immigration even by those not intending a military take over is much the same as one in the end.

What are they coming for, but to do better for themselves. How many millions can one nation facilitate unto a better life, without eventually seriously effecting the lives of those whose jobs and or businesses they take over. This is not to mention the countless millions or billions of dollars leaving this country back to that of the homes of the immigrants in their countries of actual citizenship every year. This is apart from displacing countless millions of jobs once occupied by citizens of this nation, and or the stagnation of wages a never ending supply of cheaper workers causes.

These are realities I have been eye witnessing and living as one working in construction for decades now. I have watched one construction trade or contracting field of citizen workers after another be completely replaced with Latino workers. To the tune of anywhere from 75 to 90 percent of the workers on any given job today, being Latino. English speaking construction workers are now a total minority on most job sites I have worked for many years now. Extrapolate that over the entire nation, and you have countless job displacements, which unquestionably alters the landscape of any nation. This is of course not even to address many other negative effects upon the actual citizens of nations, mass immigration or invasion by armed or unarmed legal or illegals causes.

When I worked for myself for a few years, I realized that there was no way that I could compete with the ever increasing numbers of Latinos vying for the work I did. Giving one a ride home from the job I was working on one day, I learned in conversation that he lived with the twelve others that worked together in one house. They shared the cost of all the bills and food, and sent as much was possible home. There was no way that I could compete with those willing to work for less, who had no roots or even family here to worry about taking care of, and in many ways were outside of the system which costs me and all other citizens of this country so much to be a part of. I also understood and do understand, that while all of this was a great disadvantage to me, it was a great money making machine for companies who would make use of much cheaper labor and costs concerning those they employed.

Still, this is only addressing one aspect of the many problems involved with unbridled mass migration. Which involves the many religious, societal, cultural, and political changes that mass migration brings about. All of which will naturally change a nation from within, introducing foreign aspects of all of the above, which do not align with the original intent of our founding fathers. This is how mass migration becomes a political tool of asymmetrical warfare in the hands of those who intend to change or overthrow our nation from within. Nor is this a new concept at all. The devil himself and his minions have and do employ this method throughout history.

He finally diluted and conquered authentic Christianity itself, by inundating it with unconverted pagans by the millions. When "Christianity" became the officially established religion of the Roman empire, by the command of the Roman Pontifex Maximus, Constantine. Mandating the "conversion" of all in the empire by decree, compulsory "Christianity". Which in reality has never and will never exist. Being completely outside the realm of authentic biblical Christianity. Apart from this, the bible describes the devil's use of the masses of unbelievers of this world, to destroy authentic biblically grounded religions, governments, or societies.

What largely wilderness nation became a home for persecuted Christians in the past? Which nation ended up forming a Christ like government establishing freedom, liberty, and justice for all? And what are the waters which the devil casts out ion his mouth to carry the true church of Christ away? Who controls or sits upon them?

Our nations Declaration of Independence and Constitution cannot be overthrown from without. As we have an outstanding military, backed up by an armed population. It must therefore be conquered from within by a majority of people whose vision and purpose is opposed to that of our founding fathers. Who built this nation upon biblical notions of freedom, liberty, equality, and justice for all. Flawed though they themselves were. Equality of opportunity, not government enforced equality of outcome for all. Which places way too much power in the hands of a few who will ultimately abuse such power. As the history of the governments of the world has demonstrated over and again ad nauseam.

And they did it legally. My grandfather's name in on Ellis Island walls. His wife had to wait 2 years to come behind him with 2 small kids in tow. She came through Boston.

Those coming here from the south do not want to do it by the book.

We are getting some good people the wrong way , but we also get the drug runners, human traffickers, and rapists. We get those who want and get the Medicaid, and money paid to them....

Sure, I want that too. I have been born here and lived here all my life and I dont get that. Never did.

Yes it is testable, and many of the positive and negative effects are and have been addressed throughout our history. Nor is what was good for the nation at one time, necessarily good and sustainable for a nation as time moves forward. There is of course a saturation point of detrimental effect concerning sheer numbers alone. Let alone social, cultural, religious, and political effect as well.

This nation was built upon immigration, which did in fact increase population, power, wealth, and world status as a great nation, while the majority of immigrants assimilated to the societal, cultural, and political foundations our fathers set in place. As a growing number of them did not and do not over time, changes are introduced which can and have begun to destroy the original fabric and intention of the founders of our nation. This is not to mention the many abuses of our system which have transpired due to unrestrained migration as well, lending great stresses to our already stressed financial stability.

There is no good reason to believe that those who have been and are opposed to the founding principles of this nation, are, and have been making use of such negative effects to help bring about changes that they desire toward their own vision of proper government. This is most obviously true concerning the political thought and globalist vision of the papacy or Vatican. Which has always supported and facilitated mass migrations of predominantly Catholic peoples and others into our nation. Which continues to this day with the help of many other misguided professed Christian denominations also involved in facilitating illegal immigration into this country. Including my own denomination over the last decade or so.

Anyone can go to the Vatican online and read Papal Encyclicals and Doctrinal Notes to understand the political views they intend nations to adopt. Which are most obviously at variance with the intentions of our founding fathers, our Declaration of Independence, and Constitution concerning sovereign citizens and or nations which support individual freedoms and liberty. As opposed to the mandatory common good defined and enforced by unelected officials of international organizations, which the Papacy fully supports and calls all nations and peoples to submit to.

While being revised a couple of times during that time, it is still not up to date at all concerning the ongoing mass migration situation. And or the continued support or facilitation of such by the Papacy, unto a no doubt predetermined effect upon the government of our nation. Immigration transformed American Catholicism from a small church dominated by Maryland gentry at the opening of the national period into the largest single denomination in the United States by the time of the Civil War. Raw statistics tell one part of the story. Between 1820 and 1920, the American Catholic population rose dramatically, with 4,300,000 Irish Catholics by 1850 and 1,650,000 German Catholics by 1880. Approximately four million Italians arrived between 1880 and 1920, two million Poles between 1870 and 1920, and one million French Canadians between 1880 and 1910. Slovaks, Czechs, Lithuanians, and other immigrants, as well as the Spanish Catholics of the old Southwest expanded this diversity even further. Moreover, many Eastern rite Catholics also began to immigrate to the United States in the 1870s, particularly Ukrainian and Carpathian Greek Catholics, who were recruited to work in the mills and mines of the Northeast.
 
More recently, Catholics immigration from Europe has slowed, while Hispanics, with their diverse and rich expressions of Catholic faith, have become a source of vitality in the U.S. Church. Since 1960, Hispanics have accounted for 71% of the growth of the Catholic population in the United States, largely due to sustained migration patterns from Latin America and the Spanish-speaking Caribbean.
As a result, Hispanic Catholics, who have been present in the U.S. longer than any other Catholic group, are moving from the periphery to the center of the Church. As of 2015, over a quarter of all Catholic parishes in the U.S. offered services in Spanish. Hispanic Catholics continue to play a role in the ongoing evolution of U.S. Catholic parishes from ethnic enclaves to multicultural congregations. The story of Catholics and Catholic immigration/ assimilation into the U.S. population is story of continuous growth. The stories of the Sartori and Hargous families are an important part of the early chapters of that story. However, having written about these families it is appropriate to also give a brief overview of what was the perception and statistics relating to U.S. Catholicism was nationally from the earliest days of the Republic.

 Catholics represented a very small minority in the original U.S. population as determined by the 1790 census. Out of a U.S. population of four million people, Catholics numbered only 35,000 or roughly 1%.

 Over the next thirty years the U.S. grew in territorial size and in population, reaching a population of ten million by 1820. Of those ten million roughly 2% were estimated to be Catholics or 200,000. So in the first thirty years of nationhood the U.S. Catholic population grew five fold and doubled in percentage of the total U.S. population. This was significant growth but continued to demonstrate that Catholic presence was a relatively minor factor in the overall demographics of the country.

 It should be noted that not all of the growth during this first thirty year period was from direct immigration. As we have seen in the example of the Hargous family some of the increase did come in the traditional sense, from exiles fleeing from France's various political shifts as well as from other traditionally Catholic European countries. But many in the growing U.S. Catholic presence represented native born individuals whose families were colonists in formerly French or Spanish territories. Some of these previously non English colonies had by 1820 become annexed to the U.S. Despite this rapid growth in the number of Catholics the vast majority of the U.S. population continued to be rooted in an Anglo-Protestant heritage.

 U.S. social dynamics however, began to change as a result of a surge of mass immigration to the U.S. starting around 1830. This type of immigration was new to the U.S. both in sheer numbers and point of origin. With the end of the Napoleonic era around 1830 and the continuing northern European crop failures of the time, large numbers of non-English Europeans began to seek a new life in the Americas. This was the U.S.'s first experience with massive waves of culturally diverse. These immigrants began arriving primarily from Germany and Ireland. Southern Germans and the Irish were predominantly Roman Catholic in their traditional religious practice.

 The U.S. was ill equipped to cope as a society with tens of thousands of newly arrived people many of whom were poor and without resident family or friend support.  In addition, many of the newly arrived did not speak English and the Country's educational and social institutions were poorly equipped to provide opportunities for smooth transition into an English speaking U.S. mainstream. Adding to these problems were long standing European/old world historic problems, political, social, ethnic and religious especially between the Irish and the majority mainstream American Protestants.

 The impact U.S population statics of tens of thousands arriving is demonstrated in the census of 1840. By 1840 the U.S. population had grown to approximately seventeen million people with 600,000 Catholics or 3.5% of the total population. What this demonstrates is that in a twenty year period, or the equivalent of one generation, the U.S. population increased by 70% while the Catholic population increased by 300%.  As the Catholic presence grew so did the ancient prejudices and inter-Christian friction that had existed for hundreds of years in Britain. These prejudices manifested in many ways, particularly against the Irish, and it was not long before U.S. political debate began to reflect those rising concerns.

 By the late 1830's the growing anti immigrant political pressure began to build significantly. Generally, this pressure and the individuals who supported the anti- immigrant position were labeled "Nativists". Candidates for political office began to adopt Nativist positions in their campaigns and it proved to aid in their electability.

 The U.S. Nativist movement intensified as the Irish "potato famine" and British anti Irish home policy intensified throughout the 1840's. British home policies caused more and more Irish to immigrate. By the 1850 census with the intensified Irish immigration, the U.S. population was recorded at twenty-three million, a gain of six million in a single decade, or 35%. With regard to the Catholic portion of the statistic, U.S. Catholics numbered 1.6 million, a 270% increase or 7% of the total U.S. population. Catholicism was on the verge of becoming the largest Christian denomination in the U.S. for the first time in the country's history...........................

The New Immigrants

Most immigrant groups that had formerly come to America by choice seemed distinct, but in fact had many similarities. Most had come from Northern and Western Europe. Most had some experience with representative democracy. With the exception of the Irish, most were PROTESTANT. Many were literate, and some possessed a fair degree of wealth.

The new groups arriving by the boatload in the Gilded Age were characterized by few of these traits. Their nationalities included Greek, Italian, Polish, Slovak, Serb, Russian, Croat, and others. Until cut off by federal decree, Japanese and Chinese settlers relocated to the American West Coast. None of these groups were predominantly Protestant.

The vast majority were ROMAN CATHOLIC or EASTERN ORTHODOX. However, due to increased persecution of JEWS in Eastern Europe, many Jewish immigrants sought freedom from torment. Very few newcomers spoke any English, and large numbers were illiterate in their native tongues. None of these groups hailed from democratic regimes. The American form of government was as foreign as its culture.

The history of Catholicism in the United States – prior to 1776 – often focuses on the 13 English-speaking colonies along the Atlantic seaboard, as it was they who declared independence from Great Britain in 1776, to form the United States of America. However, this history – of Catholicism in the United States – also includes the French and Spanish colonies, because they later became part of the contiguous United States. These Catholics were centered in what became Florida, Texas, California, Puerto Rico and much of rest of the Southwest.

Most of the Catholic population in the United States during the colonial period came from England, Germany, and France, with approximately 10,000 Irish Catholics immigrating by 1775, and they overwhelmingly settled in Maryland and Pennsylvania. In 1700, the estimated population of Maryland was 29,600, about one-tenth of which was Catholic (or approximately 3,000). By 1756, the number of Catholics in Maryland had increased to approximately 7,000, which increased further to 20,000 by 1765. In Pennsylvania, there were approximately 3,000 Catholics in 1756 and 6,000 by 1765. English colonies


Catholicism was introduced to the English colonies with the founding of the Province of Maryland. Maryland was one of the few regions among the English colonies in North America that had a sizable Catholic population. However, the 1646 defeat of the Royalists in the English Civil War led to stringent laws against Catholic education and the extradition of known Jesuits from the colony, including Andrew White, and the destruction of their school at Calverton Manor. Due to immigration, by 1660 the population of the Province had gradually become predominantly Protestant. 19th century

The Catholic population of the United States, which had been 35,000 in 1790, increased to 195,000 in 1820 and then ballooned to about 1.6 million in 1850, by which time Catholics had become the country's largest denomination. Between 1860 and 1890 the population of Catholics in the United States tripled, primarily through immigration and high birth rates. By the end of the century, there were 12 million Catholics in the United States.


During the mid 19th century, a wave of immigrants from Europe arrived from Ireland and Germany, as well as England and the Netherlands. From the 1880s to 1914 a "new" wave arrived from Italy, Poland and Eastern Europe. Americanist controversy

Americanism was considered a heresy by the Vatican that consisted of too much theological liberalism and too ready acceptance of the American policy of separation of church and state.
Rome feared that such a heresy was held by Irish Catholic leaders in the United States, such as Isaac Hecker, and bishops John Keane, John Ireland, and John Lancaster Spalding, as well as the magazines Catholic World and Ave Marie. Allegations came from German American bishops angry with growing Irish domination of the Church.

The Vatican grew alarmed in the 1890s, and the Pope issued an encyclical denouncing Americanism in theory. In "Longinqua oceani" (1895; "Wide Expanse of the Ocean"), Pope Leo XIII warned the American hierarchy not to export their unique system of separation of church and state. In 1898 he lamented an America where church and state are "dissevered and divorced," and wrote of his preference for a closer relationship between the Catholic Church and the State. Finally, in his pastoral letter Testem benevolentiae (1899; "Witness to Our Benevolence") to Cardinal James Gibbons, Pope Leo XIII condemned other forms of Americanism. In response, Gibbons denied that American Catholics held any of the condemned views.

Leo's pronouncements effectively ended the Americanist movement and curtailed the activities of American progressive Catholics. The Irish Catholics increasingly demonstrated their total loyalty to the Pope, and traces of liberal thought in the Catholic colleges were suppressed. At bottom it was a cultural conflict, as the conservative Europeans were alarmed mostly by the heavy attacks on the Catholic church in Germany, France and other countries, and did not appreciate the active individualism, self-confidence and optimism of the American church. In reality Irish Catholic laymen were deeply involved in American politics, but the bishops and priests kept their distance.

 
20th Century

By the beginning of the 20th century, approximately one-sixth of the population of the United States was Catholic. By the end of the 20th century, Catholics constituted 24% of the population......................

Bureau of Immigration

In 1920, the National Catholic Welfare Council established a Bureau of Immigration to assist immigrants in getting established in the United States. The Bureau launched a port assistance program that met incoming ships, helped immigrants through the immigration process and provided loans to them. The bishops, priests, and laymen and women of the National Catholic Welfare Conference (NCWC) became some of the most outspoken critics of US immigration.
 
Bishops" Program of Social Reconstruction

Following the war many hoped that a new commitment to social reform would characterize the ensuing peace. The Council saw an opportunity to use its national voice to shape reform and in April 1918 created a Committee for Reconstruction. John A. Ryan wrote the Bishops' Program of Social Reconstruction.

On February 12, 1919, the National Catholic War Council issued the "Bishops' Program of Social Reconstruction," through a carefully planned public relations campaign. The plan offered a guide for overhauling America's politics, society, and economy based on Pope Leo XIII's Rerum Novarum and a variety of American influences.


The Program received a mixed reception both within the Church and outside it. The National Catholic War Council was a voluntary organization with no canonical status. Its ability to speak authoritatively was thus questioned. Many bishops threw their support behind the Program, but a few, such as Bishop William Turner of Buffalo and William Henry O'Connell of Boston, opposed it. O'Connell believed some aspects of the plan smacked too much of socialism. Response outside the Church was also divided: labor organizations backed it, for example, and business groups criticized it.

Catholic Worker Movement

The Catholic Worker movement began as a means to combine Dorothy Day's history in American social activism, anarchism, and pacifism with the tenets of Catholicism (including a strong current of distributism), five years after her 1927 conversion. The group started with the Catholic Worker newspaper, created to promote Catholic social teaching and stake out a neutral, pacifist position in the war-torn 1930s. This grew into a "house of hospitality" in the slums of New York City and then a series of farms for people to live together communally. The movement quickly spread to other cities in the United States,
and to Canada and the United Kingdom; more than 30 independent but affiliated CW communities had been founded by 1941. Well over 100 communities exist today, including several in Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, The Netherlands, the Republic of Ireland, Mexico, New Zealand, and Sweden.
 
Catholic Conference on Industrial Problems

The Catholic Conference on Industrial Problems (1923–1937) was conceived by Fr. Raymond McGowan as a way of bringing together Catholic leaders in the fields of theology, labor, and business, with a view to promoting awareness and discussion of Catholic social teaching. Its first meeting was held in Milwaukee. While it was the venue for important discussions during its existence, its demise was due in part to lack of participation by business executives who perceived the dominant tone of the group as anti-business.

The above extremely brief historical accounts, obtained rapidly and easily by an internet search, emphatically state the case being addressed in this chapter. The Roman Catholic Church has been and continues to facilitate mass migrations of Roman Catholics and others to these United States, as part of an agenda to change this nation from within.

The above being just one example of mass migration being used as asymmetrical warfare to change or conquer nations from within, by those who oppose them from without.
