Lipscomb in the NCAAs

Lipscomb's women's basketball team beat the Univ. of Central Florida (UCF) 64-62 today to take the automatic bid from the Atlantic Sun Conference to the NCAA Tournament. The team was already co-regular season champs (with Belmont, Troy State, Georgia St. and UCF); it was also the first year the Lipscomb women's team was eligible to play for the regular and tournament championships after transitioning out of the NAIA.

Of course, in the big picture, it also appears likely that they'll be a 16-seed in the Mideast regional and get to play Tennessee first game.

But, hey, it's fun while it lasts and does wonders for recruiting.

au contraire -- a 15 seed and they don't have to face Tennessee until the regional final

spurly

Anyone following the women's final four.  Baylor got ripped off yesterday.  I think Tennessee paid the officials to call that foul.  Either that or the NCAA wanted Tennessee in the final four because they are a bigger draw than Baylor.
