This year it proved once again that great pitching will beat great hitting any time.  Both of these teams have great pitching staffs - but which one is the best?  I'm going with the Astros simply because I think Biggio deserves a world series title for staying with the Astros through thick and thin.  In our day of free agency, you don't see that much anymore.

segell

Well, it's a dead heat so far.  I chose the White Sox - but I think I'll be rooting for the Astros.

I like Biggio for that, too.  Tony Gwynn is another such guy.
Biggio played some minor league ball here in Asheville, btw.

Sox all the way, Baby!

(And I'm a northsider!  Go figure.)

I chose the sox because it'll aggravate Castro.[/color]

Isn't this like cheering for a couple of drivers in a Kias and Hyundais during a race at Talladega? :p

Nope, the Astros are for real - the White Sox are too - or they wouldn't be here.

Jimbob

I don't know.  I think it takes a longer winning streak.  Right now, they're two underdogs that are at the top...we'll see if they stay on top beyond this season.  I say that with no disrespect.  They've earned this season (or some others didn't fight hard enough to earn it instead).  I like rooting for underdogs, and this year I'm struggling to know which one to root for.

CDHealy

you should root for the sox, that's who!

Jimbob

That's where I'm leaning since my first live game was in Chicago at the old Comiskey Park

Stros in Seven, They have rotation set up so that Oswalt will pitch game 7, you saw what he did to the Cardinals in Game 6 and the Sox don't have near the firepower the Crads had...

texan

I grew up near Houston,me an my little league team sen them play in the Dome, man, those were the days.Off course they will win,Go Stro's....

Weeble

Astros because they have the Evil Empire's best pitchers, and as we have seen the Yanks can't do it without them.

Since when did Posednik become a power hitter?  That's ridiculous.

Before you yearn too much for the good old days with regard to player loyalty, read this:

I'll wager that the ChiSox will win.   :help:

CDHealy

Gee, tidbit, ya think?  What a great game last night (sez the Sox fan).

Go Sox!  Sox to sweep!

Bon Voyage

Gotta go with the team that uses the authorized DH.

QuoteHouston in 7.
When the skies are brighter canary yellow
I forget ev'ry cloud I've ever seen,
So they called me a cockeyed optimist
Immature and incurably green.

I have heard people rant and rave and bellow
That we're done and we might as well be dead,
But I'm only a cockeyed optimist
And I can't get it into my head.

I hear the human race
Is fallin' on its face
And hasn't very far to go,
But ev'ry whippoorwill
Is sellin' me a bill,
And tellin' me it just ain't so.

I could say life is just a bowl of Jello
And appear more intelligent and smart,
But I'm stuck like a dope
With a thing called hope,
And I can't get it out of my heart!
Not this heart...

Dennis

After much deliberation and examination of the results of the first three games, I have come to the conclusion that the White Sox have a decided advantge. Of course, the Astros may well overcome this advantage, it has been done as recently as last year. But to paraphrase Damon Runyon:

QuoteThe series will not always go to the team with the 3-0 advantage, but that's the way to bet.

CDHealy

Yeah, I'd heard someone quote the statistic that no team that was up 3-0 in the Series had gone on to lose.  But then I thought . . . heeeey, wait a minnit!

spurly

I'm not  ::nuts:: .  It could happen.

By the way, I am extremely upset that MLB made the Astros open the roof.  Home field advantage is home field advantage!   ::sneaky::

CDHealy

I figure the Astros home run that wasn't a home run offsets the diff.

Yet another call goes the way of the Sox.
Sox in a sweep!
Get the baseball season over with, already!

...

How 'bout that BCS... :darthvader:

tidbit

QuoteGet the baseball season over with, already!
Now, there's something I can heartily agree with!   :amen:

Mere Nick

I predict the White Sox will win it in four.  A sweep.
But I'm for the Astros.

marc

I'll have my mind made up by Friday, I think.

Dennis

Why wait till Firday?  I am jumping on the White Sox bandwagon today!

marc

I wouldn't jump too quickly.  Things may look good now, but there are still recounts and outstanding absentee ballots.  This may end up before the Supreme Court eventually.

Jimbob

See, yet another reason for Bush to nominate Ted Olson. :;):
