I don't watch THC much. Is it the one that sometimes has shows about the history of fast food ... or candy ... or ice cream novelties ... stuff like that? Maybe that was Discovery Channel, which I don't watch much either.

I thought you died or something.  Are you still living with Archie, Meathead, and Gloria?

Yep, spend a lot of time between History Channel and A&E, which are next to each other on Dish network.  Spent 28 years in the AF, so enjoy most of the military history, tho at times it gets a bit much.

I will aplogize and say I have watched several shows on the History Channel over the past few days.  Sorry, I just get overwhelmed by the military history sometimes  (I even prefer the social and Political history of the Civil War era to the Military, though I read both).

Hello, my name is Kevin, and I am a history channel addict.  I especially like the shows that focus on the history of WWII.  Tonight I am watching a special on the Japanese and German Kamikazes.  It is very good.  If you can catch it on a replay, you should.

These men were literally laying down their lives for a cause they believed in.  Although it wasn't the right cause, it is a great illustration of what we are to do for the cause of Christ.

I can't watch THC!  No cable (they wanted apx $8000 plus $40/mo to supply me cable), and I don't subscribe to satellite.  I pick up (on avg) 15 channels on regular broadcast TV from a 90 radius of my house---------and most of it isn't worth watching!

Bon Voyage

My favorite history show is Time Squad.

i enjoy thc.  i like airplanes, ships, etc., and saw part of the kamikaze show, but i'm really awaiting the 52 part documentary on the history of the bikini, featuring models of my choice!  i wonder why thc hasn't responded to my suggestion?  i even offered to direct it.

should i select edith or gloria?

I do not have cable TV so I never get a chance to watch that channel.  Not having cable has been a wonderful blessing to my family.  We save nearly a hundred bucks a month, it gives us more family time to play games and do other things (like read the Chronicles of Narnia together as a family -- which is what we are currently doing).  My children  (Rachael, 7 and Talya 6) do not even miss it

Last night after bible class we played Clue -- they love it. And I have to admit it is fun.

It was a necessity for a satellite.  I only got 2 american channels (barely) and about 6 canadian.  After a year of this, I thought I was gonna go insane.  Besides I can't stand most of network television anyway.  Not enough cartoons or wrestling.

Bobby, am I less disappointing to you with all these cheap channels if I tell you I keep a recumbent exercise bike before the TV?

I'm only just starting to use it, I really enjoy it.  I can waste an hour in front of the "tube" if I justify it with aerobic exercise!

Honestly, I don't watch the History Channel as much as I used to because WWII seems to be all I ever see.  I don't mean to downplay WWII, I am aware of the stature of the cause and of the sacrifices, but I really think THC should concentrate a bit more on the whole of history, or else change their name.

Sorry; just an opinion. Don't mean to be mean, it's just that THC has disappointed me a bit.

I wish I did get History Channel.  I enjoy endless black & white grainy looks at Winston Churchill and George Patton.

I pay about $7 per mo., basically for good reception.  I get:

Network channels: ABC, NBC, CBS, WB, UPN and I think Fox

Public TV: one station out of New Orleans & one from Baton Rouge

Local channel: mostly a "COPS" type show, a lot of hunting & fishing shows, a Catholic show or two and local news.

WGN Superstation out of Chicago

PAX and LESEA: oriented toward "family values", often with a Christian emphasis.

TV Guide Channel

Various "shopping channels"

I guess that's not a bad deal for $7 and change.

I was disappointed when they first took away MSNBC & gave me some not quite as good substitute, then they gave me more shopping channels.  Ick.  The closest I get to enjoying the shopping channels is watching Antiques Road Show on PBS.
