Welcome and hope you get your puppy on schedule!  Wiley is such a great resource person for all of us...and I know you will be a blessing as well.

Hi Sweetheart!

Getting brave in your old age huh!!!

Word of caution to the rest of the board--Kathie can type faster than she talks--and that's really fast :D   Watch out if you try her on live chat--especially if her twin sis is on it too!!!!!!!!!!!!

Connie

  I suppose this is the howdy corner ??
Hello Kathie and hello to everyone else as well.  :)

I am in east Texas.  I frequented a message board on AOL at one time and learned so much, but AOL got to be a pain to access here in my area so we dropped it.  I have read this message board periodically for several years.  I hope to join in the conversations gradually and learn from you all.

I've posted a photo of KatC on the Photogallery at

http://www.clarksons.org/photogallery/gcmfphotogallery.htm

It's a photo that needs to be rescanned and sized but it works for the time being!

Just a reminder, if you would like to have your photo on the members gallery on my web site, send me a photo!

Link works now.  Had to recopy the URL into the post.

Bon Voyage

Cause I can sing all them songs about Texas, I still do all the sad ones that I know, they tell me I look like Merle Haggard and sound a lot like David Allen Coe.

Often.  Sometimes I obey with a little bit of... not worry, nor trepidation... Concern, maybe?  'Cause many of the brothers I worship with would feel I was offending God somehow if I prayed aloud in their (male) presence, thus somehow usurping their authority.  (What authority they think they have over me while praying for me, I'm not sure.)

There are times I think the praying is more important that proving some point, I don't usually get the feeling that "confront" is the goal, just "comfort".  So I do a lot of silent praying.  Maybe I'll go shake the guy's hand or take his arm in the "fellowship line" after class, praying furiously and fervently for him behind my teeth.

Why doesn't the Lord just let me pray for the women and children?

Okay, here is my little introduction.  I'm Wiley Clarkson's daughter and I live in West Texas.  I attended the wonderful university of ACU as a Human Resource Management Major.  I work for an insurance company as well, on a full time basis.  I have 6 months to one year depending on how I want to do my semesters (easy or hard).  I am single and live with my sister Kristie. I promised dad a long time ago (like a year or so that i would join) and just now got the time to do so.  Though its still limited time. I'm positive I will love the discussions here as I have read through many of them for hours at time (especially the one on dreams).   Anyways, I'm glad to be here, and glad dad is coming out here in ONE WEEK...and with my PUPPY....YAY!!!...(Dad thats a hint..don't forget NYLA) for lecturships and hope that I get to attend most of lectureships since classes get in the way.

Thank you so much.  Yes I LOVE my DAD..*S*...Anyways, I'm sure I'll enjoy "discussing" topics on here.  If you ask my dad he'll tell you I like to talk and discuss stuff so thank you all.  I appreciate everyone of you.

Welcome Kathie,  I love your dad just from our discussions here and other boards.  I respect his opinions and know that he trusts the Lord.  I know that he had instilled that in you and he speaks so highly of all his daughters.  He told us on another board that you got to hear Katie speak at ACU.  Tell us about it.
My niece is at ACU and her sister was until she graduated last spring....Katherine and Stacie Danley...do you know them?
I hope you love these discussions...sometimes we get a little heated but we love each other.
grace, Julie

Hi, Kathie! Nice to meet you, glad you are here.

Hi Connie,

Glad you came up form lurking and let us know you were here.

What part of East Texas are you in?

Jump in at any time--we're glad to have your here!!![/quote]
We live about 20 miles from Texarkana in New Boston.  Well, actually we live 7 miles outside New Boston.  I'm not sure where Walnut Spring OR Granbury is.  Don't know my Texas geography very well.  :)

I'd love to jump in....I'm still trying to navigate!  There are SO many topics, and so many that are way deeper than I could contribute to, so I'm still busy reading and learning.   It is really amazing how reading other people's thinking and reasoning helps you see just what kind of box you are in sometimes.  I got out of my box a few years ago..or I thought I did. Then I realize I'm still in one, maybe a little bit bigger one, but still in a box just the same.   :lookaround:   I love these emotionicons!!

Booty

Hola Wee Wiley,

Have heard quite a bit of you Lass, your Da has the puffed chest and properly so!!

A Dobie Rott cross?  I had a Boxer Rott cross once, looked like a Dobie on steroids!! Bunny Wabbit, excuse me, La Sra. Bunny Wabbit is pure Rott in attitude and everything, eager to please, extremely protective of her family and one of the sharpest I have ever trained. Just finished breaking her to pack so now when we wander down to the pueblo to market, she carries her fair share on the way back. I designed a harness with removable packs so she only has the harness until loaded. Even when loaded, on rest stops I can remove the harness and allow her to cool off.

Hoping she has caught and if so she should whelp in another two months. Her hubby, King, is a german lad from the old country and quite handsome. If we stay here, I hope to start the youth of the church working with me to train them to sell for guard dogs.

Our congregation is I suspect the most open in the country to women. While none has mounted the pulpit on a regular basis, in our first plant one of our sisters does take on the dutioes when Jose is not available, We support her in this 100%.

Now you wouldn't be knowing my own self, but with the genuine affection I have for your Da and all I have heard of you, I will say this to you:

Kathie first forgive we men for our closed minds and cold hearts, give us time and we will learn. Second Kathie, whatever you do, if you are doing for the Lord and not solely to confront, then God Bless You!!  Just always remember Paul's sage advice in Romans 14 and never cause your good to be spoken of as evil.

Welcome to the family Wee Wiley, it's a pleasure to have you it is to be sure!

Booty

And it is nothing I hate more than rumours!!

You know each of us at times struggles with one sin or another, I know I do my own self. The Devil is constantly there tempting us and testing our faith, the saga of Job continues to this day.

I know what helps me the most when I am straying from the Lord is to have someone simply share with me the fellowship and love that my sin is seperating me from. Oh I neither need nor want to be confronted with the specifics of my sin, I know well what it is. But you see when I stray a denial mechanism sets in with my own self and extends to others.

It is within me that the spiritual battle must be fought, so what I need is my faith in the Lord and His Holy Spirit fortified. I know when I am doing wrong, I just need the strength to resist. It is thus a blessing when those who care for me work to help me find that strength by sharing His love with me, simply sharing His love without accusation, condemnation or interrogation. When they trust in the Lord that the Lord can and will convict me within me in my most secret and hidden places.

You see there are times when my sinning is of a nature that others would never know it. It is in these times that I need the Lord's love the most. But when I do not receive it in times like these, I learn to hide my sins even better from others and myself. But the more of His grace I have upon me, the harder and harder it is to hide the sin from myself, His love sweeps denial away.

I will always struggle with an addiction to nicotene. In my younger years I was a chimney, but now thank the Lord I have not smoked for years. Yet I still struggle, a pipe in the evening would be very welcome. The Lord knows this and it seems so strange and marvelous, whenever I really have the desire for the warmth and aroma of my friendly pipe, Sandi seems to appear at my side and we join hands and pray briefly.  How that happens. I will never know nor will I need to. I also know at times I am moved to seek her and pray with her. I have no idea what drives me, just the Lord. Perhaps in those moments she is struggling with a temptation her own self?

Have you ever felt the need to go stand with someone and pray with them?

Glad to have you aboard! Welcome!

Welcome!

I've invited my kids, but they apparently don't find message boards fulfilling.

Now, if Lee could fix it up around here so's we could zap a few demonic alien leech-beast android moonhoppers...  Ah, well.  Just a thought.

Hey, what kind of puppy?

KatC

Janine>> she's a south of the border mix, but we think she has some rot or swis moutain dog (they look the same) and some beagle..and no telling what else.

David>> I guess I am brave...Nah, just talkative but thank you anyways.

Connie

Hi Connie,

Glad you came up form lurking and let us know you were here.

What part of East Texas are you in?

I am in the extreme northeast corner, near Texarkana.

It seems to be relatively safe to speak here :)  I look forward to knowing all of you better.  Thanks for the welcome~!!     It is taking me some time to figure out how to do anything but read the posts.

I know there is a Howard family in Texarkana, they used to own a chain of discount stores when I was a kid, in fact I worked at one when I was right out of high school.  VE Howard was the father, he was pretty well known for radio preaching etc.  They also had a publishing company I think, did a lot of song books.  I have heard him speak a few times and recognized him and his wife when we were on a plane together once, but I never really knew him personally.

It is a pretty small world....even in Texas~!

KatC

Thanks Booty.  I love Rotts.  They are great dogs and very smart.  I know my "ginger" was a very smart dog just not smart enough to know not to get out in the middle of the road..*shakes head*.  I do know I will own another one of these days, when I have a house and a backyard for it to play.

Also, thank you for the advice.  I really appreciate it.  Sometimes its hard to remember stuff like that. Things that would seem so simple to think of, are sometimes the hardest to remember when we get caught up in everyday life.  Anyways, I appreciate everyones welcome.  Its always great to beable to speak to fellow brothers and sisters in Christ and to have that relationship with people all around the world.

Welcome, Kathie!  Your Dad has made so many wonderful comments in support of women.  You and your sister must be his inspiration.   Looking forward to getting to know you,  Shorty

Dad>> Yes I guess I am getting brave in my old age.

Julie>> I don't recognize your niece's names but I will keep an eye out.  and to answer your question, I did get to hear Katie talk at ACU.  I made sure to be at that chapel.  It was wonderful lesson and the colliseum, believe it or not, was dead Silent.  It was wonderful.  Anyways, I got to at least say hi to her and talk to her for a few seconds before all the students may their way to the stage to talk to her as well ( I sit next to the stage).  I'm sure I will enjoy the discussions here, I'm always up to talking.

:D Kathie

As we will from you, Connie.

Hey, Kathie, Booty's got a Rott named Bunny Wabbit.

I always keep an American Pit Bull Terrier.

Welcome to the board daughter of Clarkson!

KatC

 Thank you Barry.

DAD (wiley for those of you who dont' know him as dad)>> Your link isn't working.  I was going to look to see which picture you posted.

KatC

Yes it is a small world.  I have seen that many times out here at ACU.  Just the other day I found out one of the most wonderful, Christian Ladies that I work with knows a very good friend of mine.  In fact, the very good friend of mine actually helpled babysit her sons when he was younger.  I was sitting there thinking "wow I knew I always said 'he knew everyone' but I thought I was kidding".  I'm not sure if VE Howard is Her Grandfathers name, But I will ask next time I see her.  I find this kinda of stuff intersting.  I do know that for years she talked about going to texarkana to see her grandparents.  Anyway, I think that would be awsome if it is.

 It's time to go and study.  YAY! I'm real thrilled (would much prefer to sit here at the house and not study, but you gotta do what you gotta do.. :p

bye the way, connie I love these smilies also. They are awesome

Okay, I know People say that God can't speak through us, But (correct me if I'm wrong) He does.  Booty I quoted you on this becuase of something that has been happening at work.  Its interesting cuase, At work, I'm hearing of a brother in Christ who is in an "adulterous" relationship.  I'm not sure it is true yet, I still have to ask him about it, and I still don't know the exact way to ask someone about something of that magnitude, but so often God tells us exactly what we need to do to help the person All we have to do is listen.  In your quote I see Patience and love.  And that is exactly what I'm going to use with him.  I don't want to make it look as though Im confronting him just to see if its true. I want him to know that as a brother in Christ, everyone cares about him spiritually and wants him to be strong in Christ and want him to stop and repent of the sin if it is true.

IF anyone has any advice as to how to confront a brother in Christ about a rumor of them having an Adulterous relationship when bringing the rumor out can open a whole nother can of worms like harsh feeling towards the ones that told.  PLEASE Let me know
