His name is Justin. And i actually should have said he is going to Kuwait...its just that Iraq looms in front of me with that.

We have a single father in our church with two children in Junior High.  He will probably be sent out in the next two weeks.  Please keep him and his children in your prayers.  If he leaves, his mother is going to come and stay with the children so they do not have to change schools.

I am praying for you. :) There are so many soldiers being deployed right now.

I work for the Red Cross (in the military dept). Has your son/husband (I noticed two of you with R/NG) told you about what we do for military families? If not, or if you have questions, let me know. I'll clear up what I can (for anyone else, too!).

This is just to update you about my son. He was supposed to have left in Feb. but it kept getting delayed and he left last night/early this morning, for Kuwait. May God watch over him.

I will pray for him often and feel for you.  I know you are worried.  I have an 18 year old (he isn't enlisted) and I know exactly how I would be.  My prayers are with you as well as your son.

Since there is not a place for prayer, I would like some for my son. He is 19 and in Army Reserves and WAS going to college. He just called a little bit ago to say he is going to Iraq, probably in about a month. He is very bright (won the presidential academic award, his graduating year)and they use him to calculate air distances and other such things, so at least he is not infantry. He will, though be at an airport.

I trust God with this and how He will use it, but I am sad. God absolutely is my refuge abd strength in times of trouble.

Maurine, I join others in prayers for you and for your son. What's his name? Can you give us a first name?

Oh, and prayer requests are still here, they're just now part of Introductions & General Discussion ... so you posted exactly where you should!

Big Hugs,
Barb

Bon Voyage

Your son is only three years younger than me.  Lots of questions, no real answers yet.  Will we go to war with Iraq?  What about the Korean situation?  Is there any possibility of the draft being used again?

It can be scary.  I will join in the prayer for those who are being shipped out.

You and he are in my prayers.  My husband is Air Force and spent a couple of months in Kuwait a couple of years ago.  Of course, it was peacetime then, so I didn't have the same concerns we all have had since 9/11.

Be strong and courageous.

Maurine,  your request really touched me.  Being a mother myself (no sons, however) I certainly understand the concern.  My prayers will continue to be with you and Justin - that God will hold him in the palm of His hand.  God bless!
You know all the scriptures, so I won't quote you any, but God is in control, isn't He.
In Christian love,

Seeker,
My prayers are with your son.  My husband is in National Guards and they are starting to activate people out of his unit, a maintenance unit.  My next door neighbor's son is a twenty year man in the USAF.  She told me he was suppose to go to Bagdad also. My nephew is a cook on a ship.  My sister says he is in Kuwait.

Yes, this is a stressful , tense , time.  No, I don't want my husband gone, without taking the rest of us with him. On the otherhand, I can see how the gospel could spread as the faithful in the military are relocated to other places.

Blessings and prayers,
Lauren

Maurine, you have my {{{prayers}}}.

Perhaps the worst thing about not having a (living) computer at home right now, is that I cannot keep my prayers for my " 'Net church" current without regular access!  Very frustrating.

God's blessings on you and your household and especially on Justin.

Maurine,

Our children are our joy.

I will pray for yours as I pray for my own.

Peace.

janine

Sorry to hear it, glad you're better.

We've been trading around amongst ourselves a 'flu bug... or at least the heaviest nuclear-powered cold I've ever seen.  10-yr-old missed a week of school.  I spent a few days high on Nyquil myself.

All the news programs showing the troops, all the church bulletin boards with photos from proud parents and spouses...  Those faces do look terribly young, God bless 'em.  :(

As a former Marine who spent 1953 and 1954 in Korea, I can really understand your concern. May the Lord bless your son and grant him protection and a safe return home!

Praying.  I hate to say this, but I hadn't realized the Prayer forum was gone.

I live in an area with a high concentration of military.  There are 4 people, who I worship with, that are being deployed this weekend.  There are an additional 7000 being deployed from a local base.  Plus, they are calling up the area reserves to stay and maintain the local bases.  This is a very uncertain time for many.   :sarcasim:

Seekr, I will also be praying for your son, as well as many others.  We have two from our congregation who have been activated and have been gone for a week now.  In my six years in the National Guard, I was only activated once, and that was only for three days and I only traveled about five hours from home.  That was when I was single and had no kids; now, I can hardly stand the thought of leaving two young kids at home for a year (or more).  Heartbreaking... but we have an awesome God who is greater than any worldly power.  We must put our faith in that.

seekr

Thanks all for your prayers and concern. I also am in prayer for those whose loved ones are being deployed. Truly God is in control.

I haven't posted in a couple of weeks as I have been ill, but am better now.

Our God will be with him in Kuwait, Father Son and Spirit.

It's no trouble for Him, He'll be there anyway.  No problem to fold one more beloved one under His wing!

your son is appreciated, and prayed for
just got this email, for those of you interested in thanking husbands, wives, sons, daughters, and other relatives and friends over there

Subject: Thanks to Our Military

We know not everyone supports the President's decision
to target Iraq and many people have made the news
lately protesting the potential war with Saddam.
However, lets not forget the thousands of men and
women who don't have that right to protest, but have a
duty to defend that right; those people who have
chosen to serve in our armed forces.

Please visit the Department of Defense web page below
and sign in thanking the men and women of the U.S.
military services for defending our
freedom...especially now that war has been declared!

The compiled list of names will be sent out to our
soldiers at the end of the month. So far, there are
about 8.1 million names .. from a national population
of over 250 million.  We've got a long way to go!

The entire exercise takes 10 seconds...literally.
Please pass it on to your e-mail friends.
