Ikearcher,

Thanks for jumping in and letting us know you are here.  I think more and more people are coming to the same realizations you have.  I'm a small town person (actually outside a very small town in rural N. Cen. Texas).  My wife and I have to drive 33 miles to be with a congregation that is closer to our views.  The closer ones (less than 15 miles driving are still hung in the 50's thinking patterns).BTW, do you still do the archery thing?  I do a little now and then but not alot anymore.  Mostly backyard target and a little hunting, when time permits.

Welcome! It does my heart good to meet grace oriented ministers from all over the world on this discussion board. I hope that you find as much from this board as I have.

How large is your congregation? Is your congregation as progressive as you?

Lee, in reading through these old posts, it seems that many of the old timers have gone, or at least are no longer posting.  Have you done a survey to see why they left or if they have chosen just to lurk?

Just curious

Kevin :)

Greetings,

After XX yrs on these electronic file cabinets & the internet this is my first time dealing with a discussion board.  It is nice to find a place where we can exchange questions & ideas without condemnation & challenges to our sincerity in serving Christ.

I preach for a congregation in a small town after a mid-life change of career.  I believe the emphasis must be for the restoration of individuals & I firmly believe that it is nothing but our faith in the cross of Christ that brings salvation.  The cross of Christ takes care of our sins & our inability to perfectly obey as well as our inability to perfectly know & understand all of God's will.  It is not how well we know, but who we know, that Christ & Him crucified!  I find Paul's writing the most most exciting so far.

"ikearcher" represents the only thing back home before going back to school (HU) that I miss.  (a great archery club with the Isaac Walton League - hence "ike archer(s)."

In Christ,
Ikearcher

Wiley,

I haven't shot much lately do to a lack of a good indoor range.  The yard is always an option, but that doesn't give much distance.  I really miss a good archery club where we could shoot & visit and just get away for a while.  I enjoy getting out to hunt, but for archery I really like target.

Chris,

I'm with a congregation of about 55.  I consider myself progressing toward the unattainable goal of being like Christ.  I consider myself textual, and the text has exposed the depth & extend of God's grace.  If we treat the text honestly, I can't help but to expect that some things may change, but they should not be forced and they will take t-i-m-e.

I wish I could survey them. Sometimes I email members who haven't posted in 2 or 3 months just to see what's up.
