I believe that MMA is Mixed Martial Arts: Judo, Katrate, etc... And Nick is right it looks like cage fighting. Spike TV has a version and so does Fox Sports South.

I recognized old Slick Rick. And isn't that the NWA belt he is wearing? I saw him loose that belt to Kerry Von Erich in Reunion Arena, and then loose it again to the Junk Yard Dog in the Lakefront arena when I was a boy.

By the way I just love TNA. The X division wrestlers do some remarkable things.

The sort of rastlin they do in high school and college competition (and the Olympics) is, indeed, a sport.

The sort that the WWE does is play-acting, and is a caricature of sport. I don't deny that it takes lots of physical strength and conditioning, but then, so does ditch digging.

However, it is more of a sport than Golf, or Nascar, or half of all Olympic events, like ice dancing, and ping pong.

It is not a sport it is "Sport Entertainment" by their own admission. But the "actors" are athletes, do you remember Kamala the Ugandan Giant? Now that was a physical specimen.

What about full-contact golf?

I'm convinced that people watch ice dancing for the same reason the watch Nascar: the crashes.

According to an engineer my brother knows, rasslin' is the hub of all pro sports. The soap opera aspect of rasslin is one of the reasons I don't watch it much these days, though.

Oh, for the good ol days when the only thing they'd talk about is who's going to whup who and all they did was walk that aisle and step into the squared circle.

Its been pretty bad the last coupla years though, I would try to watch TNA, but I don't get SPIKETV.

WOW!!! The engineer I heard it from works with my brother here in NC. TNA is pretty good except for the hexagonal ring. "Hexagonized-circle" just sounds too nerdical.
