Thanks for sharing with us!!  I confess I hadn't seen anything on the news because I never watch it.  :0  I'm only a couple of hours east of you, in the Dayton, OH, area.  The town in which we attend church was also struck by a tornado 2 years ago; a lot was destroyed, including a church just down the street from ours.  Thankfully there was only 1 fatality.  Our church was able to do a lot in the relief effort. I feel it really brought Christ to the forefront for a lot of people.

I'm glad to know you and your loved ones are all safe!

The parts that were hit were the Greenwood area, southport area, Beech Grove area, airport area(not too bad there), downtown area, far east side area, close to Cumberland and then headed northeast out of Indy.

Thanks to everyone for prayers and words of praise and encouragement.

I don't know if it made news across the country, probably not with stupid women beating their children, but Indianapolis was hit heavily Friday by tornadoes.  We have a war zone here.  It is terrible.  My own cousin (a cofc senior minister) lost their home in it.  It was condemmed today.  Noone hurt, but sad!!  Very little was saved.
But it just proves that God is still in control.  And also how much we need him in our lives.  So much devastation and near misses, but not one fatality, just injuries.  Many people left homeless and no insurance.  The way the city, people and churches have reached out is amazing.  Restaurants came by 5 times on Saturday to drop off free food just for us. Awesome!!  After the 9/11 events it is like our city has really become a benevolent city. The tornados destroyed 3 schools with the entire student body inside, not even a scratch on one child or faculty member. Just amazing!!
One church was totally destroyed except for their pews.  So strange to see no walls, roof, stage, but a bunch of pews out in the open.  They still had services today (outside) in those pews.
The red cross has been terrific along with the newspaper reporters.  My cousin and his wife were interviewed and they talked heavily about God and Jesus and not one word was changed or left out.  Awesome!!  A road sign that said "keep
Right" with an arrow flew into their beams still left on top of their house and stuck there.  They keep showing that on t.v. because my cousin said  that was so perfect of a sign to be stuck on top of minister's house.  He has been quoted many times in the papers.  Our mayor even commented on it in a news conference.  It is like a witness to the world and that is being used.  No one is taking it down until it blows away or comes down with the house.

God is still in control!!
I just wanted to share with everyone.

p.s. prayers sure could be used too!!

Praise God, praise God for what appears to be "good luck"... It's humbling to realize just how much we need Him.

There is usually a good "witness" going on when disaster strikes where our brothers & sisters can get an opportunity to help.

I remember the two serious hurricanes that struck here, one when we were up North and one when we were "young marrieds" before we went up there.

Our congregation showed up on many a news program, going out into the devastated areas, bringing food and clothing and cleaning supplies and the Gospel.  We have been able to funnel relief supplies from other congregations, too.  The current church of Christ in southern Terrebonne Parish grew from the loving ties established through those relief efforts.

Thanks be to God for you & yours coming through so well, Susie.

What part of Indianapolis was hit?  I used to live near Danville.
