Yeah, good, I need ideas of where to look too.

And where is that old thread with a reference to our feelings about grape juice versus wine being rooted in the Temperance movement and a guy named Welch touring around & speaking about it? ???  :yummy:

Patrick,

your search for info got me to looking also, especially in regards to the use of wine during the Passover.  There had been some discussion awhile back about whether regular wine (with alcohol) would have been during the Passover that Jesus celebrated and during which he established the Lord's Supper.  Ran across some interesting info on that.  Also, ran across this interesting little bit of info:

[!--QuoteBegin--][/span]

Quote

[!--QuoteEBegin--] During the Roman era, a Jewish family consumed an average of 350 liters of wine a year. That is an astounding amount, especially when compared to today's domestic Israeli consumption of six liters per year, per person.
rough conversion gives the US equivalent of apx 87 gallons of wine per person per year with most of it being raised and made in ancient Israel!  That's alot of wine!!!!!!  However, considering that normal wine containing alcohol was mixed with water as the table drink (probably as a purification agent for water and water would be a dilution agent for the wine to be able to give it to children), that might not be out of reason.

I found many search hits on Yahoo but these were the most interesting that I found right off the bat.  Of Course, Yahoo is not real discriminatory when searching!  I ended up adding some sites to my favorites for further study on other subjects!

I know this topic has come up before, started by me in one case.  I am just looking for some online resources for the study of wine in the Bible.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.
Patrick
