I'll cut to the chase with this question:  Do you think the NFL will place a team north of the border?  The main contender is of course Toronto.  There's been some speculation of the Bills moving to Toronto.  Do you think this will happen?  How do you feel about this issue--if I can call it that.
Personally I was brought up on the CFL and I'll die a CFL fan.  I have nothing against the NFL.  It's just that I never followed it because I am satisifed with the game up here.
Warren Moon, Doug Flutie and other NFL players have played in this league.  There is a hunger in some people for Toronto to have an NFL team.
The Grey Cup game slated for this Sunday is sold out but I hope I can find a ticket rom a scalper.  I rarely do business with these guys but sometimes depending on circumstances you can get lucky when they try to dump tickets at the start of the game or after the game has commenced.(I'm talking about bargain prices here.)
Anyway, as I was saying...do you think the NFL will come to Toronto and if it does how do you think you will feel about that?
::cowboy:: ::cowgirl:: (That's me and my wife, by the way.  We hope to move to Alberta in the future, God willing.)

I doubt it.  With the popularity of the CFL, it seems unlikely that the NFL will bring a team into Toronto.  I mean, the Argonauts are a pretty popular team (even with the 11-7 season).  CFL is so popular, we get games here in Georgia sometimes.  It just seems unlikely that Toronto would get an NFL team.  There are too many US cities which could benefit from a team (Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Antonio, San Jose, etc.)  I would like to see more Canadian MLB teams, though, perhaps in Vancouver and Winnipeg.

::tippinghat::Hi Brian...nice to hear from you.
I am inclined to agree with your sentiments on this matter.  However there are still those who think the Bills will eventually re-locate to Toronto.  Correct me if I am wrong but aren't the Bills going to play a few games at the Rogers Centre in the future.  That would be like having your foot in the door, maybe? I dunno... My pastor was telling me on the weekend about going to a game in Detroit recently and being blown away, not just a game but an 'event'.
I can honestly say I feel genuine emotion about the CFL and the Grey Cup.  I know in part that the reason for this is because of ties with my deceased step-father.  We were't particularly close but this was one thing we did share and enjoy together.
Anyway Brian thanks for your  comments.  By the way the game Sunday was sold-out and I couldn't buy a ticket from the box office or a scalper.  I had hoped that their prices would drop after the kick-off but no luck--they were still getting premium prices for their tickets.  $100 bills were flying around like popcorn! The demand for seats was just too high for this championship game.
Oh...in regards to baseball I have to admit that this game is not a great favourite of mine but I have attended a number of Jays games.  I like a fast action paced game like hockey (Edmonton and Calgary) and lacrosse (Toronto Rock).  But yeah...I'd be happy to see more Canadian teams in the picture.  I still remember the first time I saw the Expos in Montreal at Jarry Park when I was a youngster. They played against Chicago--what a hoot!
Oh, I better go here.  Take care Brian.  You come across to me as someone who has a good heart and a good head on his shoulders.  May the Lord bless you--and I know He will!

Good stuff, mikey.

I don't know what it is about baseball.  I grew up on it, so it's kind of got a secure place in my heart.  I think it's more suspenseful than other sports, rather than just action packed.  It's the difference between Psycho and Die Hard (sort of).  As for hockey, I will always be a Devils fan, but I do like watching the Flames play.  I've got family near Edmonton, and I hope to be able to visit during next season, if I can get Uncle Sam to give me time off.
My first baseball game was probably at Yankee Stadium (fan for life).  I went to see my favorite pitcher, Nolan Ryan, play there once.  I love it.  I don't mind watching football, but it's a bit too staccato for me to watch all the time.  I'm glad the season is short!

Take care!

Jaime

As I have said before, baseball is the best 15 minutes in sports, but it takes 3 plus hours to accummulate that many minutes of action.

Bon Voyage

I used to watch a bit of CFL when the Baltimore CFL Colts smoked the competition because they didn't have to have a set amount of Canadians on the team, and CBC and CTV were 2 of the 3 channels I got.

If you look at it, football has about the same amount of true action.

Yep.  That's why the Brits probably enjoyed the Giants-Dolphin game alot less than rugby.

As for Jaime's comments, I had a subscription to MLB.com a couple of years ago and you could watch the last pitch and the fielding and baserunning of every at bat for any of the games.  You could see a whole game in 15-20 minutes but would be ripped off if there were any brawls.  Sports brawls are cool.
