Dear Moderator,

I posted a new topic on the forum titled "Farewell to religion"  my topic has RichardBurgers name on it.  And then it has been merged into his topic "Religion who needs it"  The result is that my topic has been buried in his topic. I am kind of an older guy it takes me quite awhile to come up with a topic.  I find this whole senario very discouraging.

Topics that have the same theme, as these seemed to, are often merged.  That was clearly stated at the time of the merger, and is within forum guidelines.  Sorry for the confusion.  Others are confused as to why there need to be soooo many threads with the same topic, but different titles.  So there's plenty confusion to go around, it would seem.

Well, the person who gets his name on the "new" topic is usually the one who started it first.  The system does that, unless you tap-dance around to avoid it.

If I was a moderator, I would never merge someones post into another persons post, even if they were on the same topic. Especially without their permission.  I understand that we are all guest on the forum, but still, we spend time and preparation to come up with a post, then it gets buried.
I would expect that out of worldly organization, but not a Christian forum.
I doubt if I will post anymore.  I don't care for what appears to abuse.

Sorry, Robert.  But, here's the forum rule that addresses this:

3.6 You will try your best not to start a new thread if a thread already exists on the same topic. Staff may choose to intervene to merge threads with similar topics to prevent cluttering the forums.

See forum rules here.

So, the moderator was applying this rule by merging the two threads that were on the same topic.  This was consistent with the policies of the forum, as defined by the administrator.

You know, I post on a baseball board where this is done regularly, and I've never heard anyone complain.

DCR

I've been on other forums where it is done also.  There's nothing unusual about it.

Rules are religion.

(notice how I abused my mighty mod powers there too...)
